Chapter – VI<br />

OFFERING OF SUBJECTS<br />

6.1 During Admission every student has to choose subjects for his/her honours as<br />

well as for Elective and Pass courses. He/She shall have to choose a language for<br />

MIL. Appropriate Roll No. with subject symbols shall be given to him/her on the<br />

basis of subjects he/she choose. The subjects shall be offered to the students on<br />

the basis of availability of seats through a selection procedure.<br />

6.2 For Arts he/she shall have to choose<br />

(a) One Honours subject from among the list furnished as follows :<br />

Anthropology, Economics, Education, English, Geography, Hindi, History,<br />

Mathematics, Music (HV), Oriya, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology,<br />

Sanskrit, Sociology, Statistics or any other subject to be opened in the<br />

future as per the rule of the <strong>College</strong> / University.<br />

(b)<br />

Two Elective subjects one for 1 st year from the group of Elective – A and<br />

one for 2 nd year (3 rd / 4 th Semester) from the group named Elective – B.<br />

Elective – A : Anthropology, Applied Philosophy, Education, Hindi,<br />

Oriya, Landmarks of Indian History, Psychology<br />

and Sanskrit.<br />

Elective – B : Indian Polity, Indian Geography, Indian Economics,<br />

Mathematics, Indian Music, Statistics, Sociology.<br />

(c)<br />

All the Compulsory subjects.<br />

English - 1 st /3 rd Semester<br />

MIL - 2 nd /4 th Semester<br />

He/She shall have to choose one of the following languages – English,<br />

Hindi and Oriya.<br />

Environmental Studies - 5 th Semester<br />

Indian Society and Culture - 6 th Semester.<br />

6.3 In Science stream each student shall offer :<br />

(a) One Honours subject from among the following subjects – Anthropology,<br />

Bio-technology (under self-financing scheme), Botany, Chemistry,<br />

Computer Science (under self-financing scheme), Mathematics, Physics,<br />

Statistics, Zoology or any other subject to be opened as per rule of B.J.B.<br />

Autonomous <strong>College</strong>, Bhubaneswar.<br />

(e)<br />

One Pass subject from among following subjects – Botany, Chemistry,<br />

Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Zoology.<br />

One Major Elective subjects from among the following subjects – Botany,<br />

Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Zoology.<br />

One Minor Elective subject as per the following specification – Biology for<br />

Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics Honours<br />

students Mathematics and Statistics for Botany, Zoology students.<br />

Computational Technique for Bio-Chemistry Honours students.<br />

Compulsory subjects<br />

English
