Waskcom Wildcats
The Wildcats went 2-8 last year, their first in 19-1A. In
the offseason, Brian Lowe became head coach after
two years as an assistant.
Lowe takes over a team with eight returning starters
on each side of the ball.
“We feel pretty good about what we’ve got,” Lowe said
of this year’s prospects.
The 2009 push will start up front with a pair of senior
earthmovers, Brandon Weglowski and Matt Goode.
“Brandon’s pound for pound the strongest guy we’ve
got in the program,” Lowe said. “He put up about 415
(on the bench press) just before school was out. And
Matt was squatting around five hundred, too.”
“We’re very strong, that was something we focused on
and got that going.”
Junior A.J. Jackson returns after a spectacular
offseason.
“He won state in the high jump,” Lowe said. “Hopefully
we can tap into that more this season. Track really
opened up his wings. We’re expecting great things out
of him this season.”
Senior Braylon Tatum is expected to carry the ball
again for the Wildcats.
