Dallas Lutheran Lions
The Lions’ den is another place where expectations
are growing again this summer.
Lutheran finished the season at 5-7, finishing district at
4-1 and going two rounds deep into the playoffs
“And we were real, real young last season too,” says
head coach Nathan Robbins. “We played a tough nondistrict
schedule. We had a sophomore QB get hurt…
that with several other injuries we just were not able to
score as many points as we wanted.”
Ben Hartley will jump in as a junior to run the Lions
triple option. “He’s ready for full time,” says coach
Hartley, “Ben will make all the reads in our option; he
is a very athletic young man.”
On defense, one of the few returning seniors, Steven
Ford will be calling the signals as middle linebacker.
“He is smart and athletic and will do great things for
us,” says Hartley.
Hartley looks forward to a rematch with Brook Hill
come district play but he also expects this to be a
much closer district race.
“The rest of the district is drawing a lot closer together,”
says Hartley, “winning district games by 40 or more is
probably not going to happen this season.”
Hartley is hoping with more experience he’ll see fewer
mistakes on Friday nights and more wins and maybe
even a district title by November.
