50 WISE COUNTY Camping Looking for a place to camp that’s not oo far away from home Here’s a list of laces in Wise County that provide a range f amenities for the outdoorsy types. LYNDON B. JOHNSON GRASSLANDS Visitors to the grasslands can set up heir tents anywhere, but there are a few stablished sites in the national park. • Black Creek Lake Seven walk-in camp units, seven picic areas, restrooms, boat ramp, fishing ridge. No drinking water. Day-use fee is 2. • Valley-View Group Use Campsite Available by reservation on weekends or $150 and includes restrooms, parking spurs, fire rings, lantern posts and group pavilion. Parking is $4 a day. • LBJ Multi-Use Trail The 75-mile trail can be used for horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking and has campsites along the way. LAKE BRIDGEPORT • Wise County Park Located at 372 CR 1638 in Chico, Wise County Park offers tent sites, picnic tables, a playground, boat ramps, public restrooms and showers. The park also has 10 RV sites with water and electricity and 14 RV sites with water, sewer and electric. Business 287; has a tennis court, pavilion, concession stand, baseball fields and a playground BOYD • Yellow Jacket Park, North Evans, has a basketball court and a swing set • James Snodgrass Park, West Hobbs, has a playground and baseball and softball fields BRIDGEPORT • Harwood City Park, 707 Hovey St.; has two playgrounds, 10 picnic tables, a walking trail, horseshoe pits, a swimming pool and an open play area • Payne Park, 409 W. Cates St.; has 1.3 acres of park land, features a covered skate park, picnic tables, playground equipment, basketball court, open play area • Northwest Park, north of town off of Texas 101, ATV park and hiking trail CHICO • M.
