• Greenwood is located
west of Farm Road 51
between Decatur and Slidell
on Farm Road 1204.
• Greenwood has two
churches, a country store, a
post office, a volunteer fire
department and a
Masonic Lodge and Eastern
Star group.
• The downtown pavilion
serves as the venue for the
annual Youth Fair Buyer’s
Association Barbecue,
Greenwood Art Show and
Greenwood Homecoming.
• The annual homecoming
is held the first Sunday in
June.
• The Greenwood Fall
Festival is held the second
Saturday in October.
• The Greenwood Art Show
is held the second Saturday
in April.
• Greenwood has no police
department. Call 911 to
reach the Wise County
Sheriff’s Department for
emergencies.
• Children attend school at
Decatur or Slidell ISD.
SLIDELL
WHAT’S NEW IN SLIDELL
• Eagles Canyon Raceway,
a European-style, 2.5-mile
road course, is now open
near Slidell, a quarter-mile
south of the intersection of
Farm Roads 455 and 51.

• Slidell is located 15 miles
north of Decatur east of the
intersection of FM 51 and
FM 455.
• Slidell is home to several
farmers and ranchers and
to residents who enjoy an
easy commute to Denton,
Gainesville and the
Metroplex.
• Slidell has no police
department. All
emergencies are handled
through the Wise County
Sheriff’s Department at 911.
• Slidell has two cafes and a
post office.
• Slidell school district is
Class 1A and covers grades
K-12. The elementary, junior
and high schools and the
administration building
are located at 1 Greyhound
Lane.
