People who love, go-carts, dirt<br />

bikes and ATV’s will never find themselves<br />

bored as long as they’re in<br />

<strong>Wise</strong> <strong>County</strong>.<br />

The county offers a variety of<br />

racetracks for young and old alike.<br />

The racetracks even attract several<br />

people from the Dallas/Fort Worth<br />

Metroplex.<br />

ROCKY RIDGE RANCH<br />

The Rocky Ridge Ranch recreation<br />

park for dirt bikes, ATV’s, threewheelers<br />

and four-wheelers also<br />

includes camping opportunities, said<br />

owner Julie Moss, whose grandparents<br />

opened the park 32 years ago.<br />

No go-karts are allowed.<br />

“We hold cross country races because<br />

we are leaning more <strong>to</strong>ward<br />

family weekend type events,” Moss<br />

said.<br />

The park features several miles of<br />

trails, several hills for bikers <strong>to</strong> climb<br />

and areas for trial rides – where riders<br />

pick a steep rocky area <strong>to</strong> ride<br />

and go up or down without putting<br />

their feet down. The park also includes<br />

a rock pit, mud pit and a drag<br />

strip for people <strong>to</strong> go drag racing on<br />

their bikes or four wheelers, Moss<br />

said.<br />

People who camp overnight have<br />

access <strong>to</strong> showers and port-a-potties.<br />

Electrical hookups are available<br />

for their campers, she added.<br />

The park is not open during the<br />

regular work week, although it<br />

is open Friday from 5 <strong>to</strong> 10 p.m.<br />

Visi<strong>to</strong>rs who stay on the weekends<br />

through Sunday pay a $30 special<br />

per person. There is no camping fee,<br />

but there is a $15 fee <strong>to</strong> stay per day,<br />

Moss said.<br />

The park is located at 14467 N. FM<br />

51 near Decatur. The phone number<br />

KAM KARTWAY<br />

The Kam Kartway, located at 4746<br />

E. State Highway 114 in Rhome<br />

(one-fourth mile west of U.S. 81/287),<br />

has an oval go-kart racetrack that’s<br />

one-eighth of a mile in distance, said<br />

owner Mike Engstrom.<br />

The track hosts about 30 events<br />

a year, including a winter series, a
