CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC CONFERENCE
The guest speaker Fr. Trevor Nathasingh is a prophetic voice to
the Church and the Charismatic Renewal. Wherever he speaks
there have been healings, conversions, and renewals. Father
Nathasingh attributes his conversion to the Catholic
Charismatic Renewal. At St. Matthew’s Parish, Surrey on Fri,
Sept 20 from 7-9:30pm and Sat, Sept 21 from 10am to closing
Mass at 7pm with Archbishop Michael Miller. Tickets $10. For

you to register for the weekly visits. You can also

OFFER YOUR PRAYERS
Faith is a gift from God and it was Jesus who
taught His disciples how to pray to grow in
faith. At the back of the church are ‘Prayer
Request Forms’ for you to fill out and place in
the clear vases which are also at the back of the
church. During this year of faith please include family and
friends who no longer practice their faith.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
Every Thursday at 7:30pm—in the church library—now until
September—continuing education in your faith—presented by
Don Rullens—no cost—everyone welcome.
NEW ALTAR SERVER TRAINING & FORMATION
Want to be an altar server or know
someone who may be interested Boys and
girls ages 8-17 who have received their
First Holy Communion are eligible. Forms
are located at the back of the church.
Deadline for registration is Sept 15.

CURIOUS ABOUT CATHOLICISM
If you or anyone that you know is interested in
inquiring about the Catholic faith, the RCIA
process will start on Thursday evenings in
September at 7pm in the church library. The Rite
of Christian Initiation for Adults is a process
introducing adults to the Catholic faith with the
possible result being Baptism and the reception of
the Sacraments at Easter. If you are non-Catholic or Catholic
and feel that God is calling you to learn more about the Catholic
faith, call the parish office @ 604-936-2525.
HAWAIIAN LUAU
We invite you to our first community-building event of the
new season! A HAWAIIAN LUAU!! On Sat,
Sep 7 at 6pm in the rectory backyard. Tickets,
which go on sale this weekend, are $20
for a family of 6 (parents + 4 children)—
$5 for individual—children under 7 free.

IT’S REGISTRATION TIME FOR PREP
If your children are attending public
school or are home-schooled and they will
be entering Kindergarten or higher this
September then NOW is the time to get
them signed up for Catechism classes. Our
program, for Kindergarten through Grade
7, runs from Sep 2013 to June 2014, Tuesday evenings from

CHABC AGM
The Catholic Health Association of BC Annual General
Meeting and Conference will take place
on Thur, Sep 19, at the Executive Plaza
Hotel in Coquitlam. The theme for this
year’s conference is “Shining a Light on
the Darkness of Elder Abuse”, and
features speakers who will talk about prevention of and
response to abuse through community and individual
awareness and education. Registration for the day, including
lunch, is $140. Further details and registration info is available

BOOKS NEEDED
The Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan in the Philippines has
just opened a new theology seminary, Mary Help of Christians.
This new seminary needs spiritual and theological books and
periodicals for their library. If you wish to donate books please

GIRLS AND BOYS TOWNS
The Sisters of Mary from Korea operate Girls & Boys Towns in
five countries. They provide loving homes for several thousand
extremely poor, abandoned children in each “Town”. Now they
would like to send one of their especially talented, 24-year-old
Korean graduates, named Gabriel Im, to study and practice
clinical work with Father Larre for one year. Gabriel will need
a family to adopt him and provide him with room, meals, family
life and an opportunity to learn good Canadian English. If you
would like to offer this hospitality to Gabriel at no cost, please

SUMMER INSTITUTE
‘Enrich Your Faith’, a day of faith formation and
ministry training courses, sponsored by the Office of
Catechetics, will be held on Sat, Aug 24 from 10am-

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
A VERY BIG THANK YOU—The St. Vincent De Paul
Society would like to thank the children, parents and volunteers
who attended the Vacation Bible School for their generous
contribution of food. We would also like to thank our
parishioners who leave canned goods etc.in the box in the
vestibule. We have helped some families over the summer and
will again be putting together Thanksgiving Hampers in early

Jesus challenges His disciples to examine who
they love first and foremost. A true disciple loves
God above all else and is willing to forsake all for
Jesus Christ. Jesus insists that His disciples give
Him the loyalty which is only due to God, a loyalty which is
higher than spouse or kin. It is possible that family and friends
can become our enemies, if the thought of them keeps us from
doing what we know God wants us to do. Does the love of
Jesus Christ compel you to put God first in all you do
