In 2006, retiring TCNC
Executive Director H. Eugene
Maples received a Special
Award of Appreciation from the
NCSU Turf Work Group in
recognition of his long record
of outstanding support of the
turfgrass program at NCSU.
In 1999, Ray Avery received a
plaque in recognition of his diligence
to bring the NC Turfgrass
Show to new levels of excellence.
In 1998, Sam Lang IV received
an engraved timepiece in recognition
of his time and talent
spent during the previous NC
legislative session.
In 1993, Gary Stafford received
a plaque honoring and thanking
him for his exceptional work as
a TCNC board member and as
Tradeshow Chairman.
In 1992, Bill Riggan received an
award honoring his dedication
and devotion to the eight tradeshows
that he organized and
carried through.
In 1987, Dr. William B.
Gilbert received an engraved
silver tray commemorating his
retirement after hosting 25
Turfgrass Conferences.

SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM
Honor a personal mentor with
a commitment of $250 or more
to the TCNC Eagles Award
Endowment, and you can say
thank you by giving the greatest
gift of all—that of passing it on
to a new generation. Each year,
the most outstanding turfgrass
research graduate student at
NC State University seeking
a Masters or Ph.D. degree
will receive a $2,000 cash
scholarship in honor of all
mentors enshrined.
