STUDENT SUPPORT<br />

Louglin offers a college-preparatory<br />

program for all students. All students<br />

earn a New York State Regents<br />

Diploma. Competitive students may<br />

opt for the New York State Regents<br />

Diploma with Advanced Designation.<br />

To support student success, <strong>Loughlin</strong><br />

offers Homework Help, an after school<br />

program where students can get help<br />

with homework, prepare for up coming<br />

exams and be tutored.<br />

SUMMER HEADSTART<br />

PROGRAM<br />

All non-test takers for <strong>Admissions</strong> into<br />

Catholic High Schools (T.A.C.H.S.), SSP<br />

applicants and those scoring below a<br />

certain percentile on the T.A.C.H.S. are<br />

required to take part in the summer<br />

HEADSTART program to strengthen<br />

academic skills necessary for high school.<br />

The program includes classes in Basic<br />

Skills, English, Mathematics, Reading and<br />

Study Skills as well as Enrichment Activities<br />

(basketball, handball, paddle and table<br />

tennis, track, volleyball, outings, videos,<br />

dance and arts and crafts). There is a<br />

separate fee for this program.<br />

TECHNOLOGY<br />

Over 80 computers are available for<br />

student use. A new fiber optic line<br />

provides Internet service. Wireless<br />

access is available throughout the<br />

building. Access is filtered to block<br />

objectionable content.<br />

All PC machines are connected to our<br />

local school network as well. This local<br />

network gives all computers access<br />

to printer services and server-based<br />

resources such as the library catalog,<br />

SIRS Renaissance, SIRS Researcher, The<br />

Encyclopedia of Religion and Grolier’s<br />

Multimedia Encyclopedia. In addition,<br />

there is a school-wide subscription to<br />

Encyclopedia Britannica through our<br />

Internet connection. There is a full-time<br />

Technology Director on staff to help<br />

teachers integrate technology into<br />

every aspect of learning.<br />

La Salle Hall Boarding Program<br />

<strong>Bishop</strong> <strong>Loughlin</strong> Memorial High<br />

School has partnered with Boys Hope<br />

Girls Hope of New York, a nonprofit<br />

organization, to operate an urban<br />

boarding school. This boarding<br />

program was established to offer<br />

underserved youth a powerful<br />

alternative to the overwhelming<br />

obstacles that jeopardize academic<br />

success.<br />
