Bishop Loughlin Memorial High
School has been guided by one goal:
to provide the best Catholic education
for the young people we serve. In
1851, De La Salle Christian Brothers
assumed direction of what was then
known as the St. James School on
Jay Street. This school later became
known as St. James Diocesan High
School for boys. In 1933, the school
moved to Clermont Avenue and the
diocese changed the name to Bishop
Loughlin Memorial High School in
honor of John Loughlin, the first
Roman Catholic Bishop of Brooklyn
(1851-1891).
The Bishop Loughlin tradition is
built on a foundation of faith and
academic excellence. Dedicated
