The serial interface is mainly used in industrial fields<br />
for measurement technique and control systems.<br />
The RS-232 standard was originally developed for<br />
long-distance data transmission in different<br />
applications and is still used for data communication<br />
e.g. IP-network.<br />
Single data bits are transmitted successively as<br />
voltage states through a transmission and reception<br />
line.<br />
The serial interface is universal due to its wide<br />
functionality and can be easily integrated into systems<br />
of industrial machines. It is being supported by<br />
almost all microcontroller and does not demand a<br />
great deal of hard- and software.<br />

RS-232 DB9 - RS = Recommended Standard; Norm<br />

describes a digital data block for sending and<br />
