WAGNER ROLES: Senta, Elisabeth and Isolde<br />
Soprano Caroline Whisnant sang in the 7 th (September 2003) Concert at the Smithsonian Institution<br />
seminar jointly-sponsored with the <strong>Wagner</strong> <strong>Society</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Washington</strong>, <strong>DC</strong>. Following her acclaimed European<br />
debut as Elektra with the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe, she joined the Mannheim Opera, where<br />
she is appearing as Isolde, Senta, Elisabeth, and Leonore. She sang Ariadne at the Broomhill Festival.<br />
She has sung Norma in Kentucky, Dallas, Portland, Bogota and Santiago; Turandot (Santiago and Dallas),<br />
Freia (Arizona Opera), and Rosalinda (Kentucky Opera). Her repertory encompasses the lyric Desdemona<br />
(Baltimore Opera), the Madame Lidoine (Tulsa) and Santuzza (Kansas City Opera). CWhisnant@aol.com<br />
WAGNER ROLES: Helmwige, Gutrune, Brünnhilde (cover for Jane Eaglen at Chicago Lyric)<br />
Soprano Jennifer Wilson sang in the 3 rd (October 2001) and 8 th (September 2004) Concerts as well as<br />
at the September 2002 Gala Benefit. She also appeared as a panelist with Thomas Stewart and critic Tim<br />
Page in the <strong>Wagner</strong> <strong>Society</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Washington</strong>, <strong>DC</strong> seminar at the Smithsonian Institution in September 2003.<br />
She made her operatic debut in the role <strong>of</strong> Turandot with the Connecticut Opera in October 2002, a role<br />
she repeated for the Houston Grand Opera in 2004 to great critical acclaim. Her debut role for the Lyric<br />
Opera <strong>of</strong> Chicago in 2002 was Helmwige. She will reprise this role again in the Lyric Opera <strong>of</strong> Chicago’s<br />
2005 Ring cycle, when she will sing her first Gutrune. She will also cover for Jane Eaglen’s Brünnhilde. She<br />
will perform Helmwige in Die Walküre at the Teatre du Châtelet in Paris. She will appear in an Amsterdam<br />
radio broadcast <strong>of</strong> Schulh<strong>of</strong>f’s Flammen, led by Edo de Waart and she will sing Turandot at the Santa Fe Opera in 2005. She is a<br />

Nine Concerts and Public Performance Opportunities for 21 Singers<br />
Extensive rehearsals and coaching were provided by Evelyn Lear and Thomas Stewart in preparation for these concerts. Most<br />
concerts were presented at the German Embassy, <strong>Washington</strong>, <strong>DC</strong> with the singers accompanied by pianist Betty Bullock. Two<br />
single concerts were held at the Smithsonian Institution (7 th ) and the Northern Virginia Community College (8 th ) with singers<br />
accompanied by the Friday Morning Music Club Orchestra under the baton <strong>of</strong> Sylvia Alimena.<br />
