partner with the private and NGO sectors for reporting of Kala-azar and<br />
PKDL.<br />
Active case search will be undertaken around hot spots and by organizing<br />
camps in the villages which report one or more cases. This is proposed as a<br />
strategy since Kala-azar occurs in the form of clusters of cases. Efforts will<br />
be made to strengthen BCC and active case search.<br />
Reporting and information systems will be developed and the focus will be<br />
on the use of reports for feedback and supportive supervision at the sub<br />
district and district level. Computerization is proposed at the district, state<br />
and central levels.<br />
Detailed information will be obtained through sentinel surveillance where<br />
information on the cases diagnosed and treated in the OPD and admitted<br />
patients inn selected sites will be provided through line listing of cases. This<br />
will help to provide detailed information and Kala-azar outcomes as<br />
proportional mortality and case fatality rates. The sentinel sites will also<br />
participate in pharmaco vigilance and drug resistance/non responsiveness.<br />
With success in implementation of the project, the active case search will be<br />
intensified. The activity schedule is presented is Table-2.<br />
