Sun, sea and sand are in no short supply here. Set in a
peaceful spot, right on the edge of Esquinzo de Jandia
beach, this Princess holds court over a giant stretch of soft
white sand, edged by turquoise waters. The complex has
classic Spanish good looks - whitewashed balconies, cutesy
chimney stacks and terracotta rooftops. And it’s all laid out
like a village, with rooms spread out among tropical gardens.
Four good-sized pools, surrounded by palms, give the beach
a run for its money. Tempting you away from your sunbed
for a cocktail is the Coco Loco bar, set on an island in the
main pool. There’s even a separate secluded pool with its
own sunbathing area specially for those who like to tan
all over. Step through the huge sliding glass doors,
meanwhile, and you’ll find yourself in a cavernous - almost
church-like - lobby. There’s a distinctly regal feel to the
bedrooms, too. They’re spacious and decked out in elegant
in shades of pale gold and deep pink and come with sofas.
When it comes to dining, the buffet restaurant serves up
everything from pasta and salads to Canarian specialities.
Plus there’s a show cooking station where you can have
your steak sizzled just the way you like it.
Last but not least, the remoteness of the Fuerteventura
Princess is one of its key attractions - it’s got the real
escape factor. Having said that, just eight kilometres away is
the little town of Jandia , with its shops, bars and
restaurants and lively Thursday market.
