Turning the power on/off<br />
The power can be switched on by pressing the keys listed below.<br />
To turn off the power, press o.<br />

o Restores the display as it was before the unit was switched off<br />
(Resume function).<br />

t The display of each dictionary and/or function appears (Direct-on<br />

Auto power off function<br />
To save the battery, the <strong>PW</strong>-<strong>E420</strong> will automatically turn its power off if no key<br />
operations are detected for a set period of time. The activation interval initial setting<br />
is 5 minutes, but it can be adjusted by following the directions on page 13.<br />
To attach a commercially available strap<br />
A carrying strap can be attached, as shown in the picture below (strap not<br />
included).<br />
Caution:<br />
• Do not swing the unit by the strap, or use excessive<br />
force to pull the strap. Doing so will cause a<br />
malfunction or hardware damage to the unit.<br />

Backlight<br />
This product has a built-in backlight, which allows you to view the display and use<br />
the product even in low-light conditions. Pressing , once illuminates the display<br />
until you have not pressed any keys for approx. 1 minute or press , again.<br />
Notes:<br />
• Use the backlight in low-light conditions. It will drain power from the operating<br />
batteries and significantly reduce battery life.<br />
Key notation used in this manual<br />
• Keys are often assigned with more than one function.The appropriate key/<br />
function will be shown according to the input status.<br />

• The functions indicated with green typeface are second functions. Press and<br />
release ^, then press an appropriate key.<br />
