The Wonderful Cross
Hymn by Isaac Watts. Words and Music by Chris Tomlin, Jesse Reeves and J.D Walt. © 2000
worshiptogether.com songs; CCLI #108004
Verse 1
When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died;
My richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.
Verse 2
See, from His head, His hands, His feet, sorrow and love flow mingled
down;
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown
Chorus
Oh, the wonderful cross, oh, the wonderful cross
Bids me come and die, and find that I may truly live.
Oh, the wonderful cross, oh, the wonderful cross;
All who gather here by grace draw near and bless Your name.
Verse 3
Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were an off’ring far too small:
Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.
Chorus
Offertory: Gerry Pool
Lord, let Your light, light of Your face shine on us
That we may be saved, that we may have life;
To find our way in the darkest night, let Your light shine on us.

Verse 2
Lord, let Your grace, grace from Your hand fall on us.
Lord, let Your grace, grace from Your hand fall on us.
That we may be saved that we may have life;
To find our way in the darkest night, let Your grace fall on us.
Sing to the King Who is coming to reign,
Glory to Jesus, the Lamb that was slain.
Life and salvation His empire shall bring,
And joy to the nations when Jesus is King.
Chorus
Come, let us sing a song, a song declaring we belong to Jesus,
He is all we need.
Lift up a heart of praise, sing now with voices raised to Jesus,
Sing to the King.
Verse 2
For His returning we watch and we pray,
We will be ready the dawn of that day.
We’ll join in singing with all the redeemed,
‘Cause Satan is vanquished, and Jesus is King.
(Chorus)
Visiting Israel: Early Spring 2012
by Donald Goertzen
A visit to the biblical land of
Israel for Christians is hardly
without expectation, and a very
rewarding experience. It gives us
an understanding of the places of
the Bible that cannot be achieved
by maps and pictures.
Don and Wanda Goertzen with
Mt. Hor in the background.
Since 1983, our visits have
always been in May or June, the
summer months of the year. As we
planned the last trip it occurred to
me that another trip could be
offered during the winter/spring
part of the year that would allow
others to join this adventure. We
have now arranged a visit to Israel
during February 27–March 8,
2012.
This tour will be a comprehensive
tour of the land in biblical
terms from Dan to Beersheba. To
help you gather the information
for the trip and answer your
questions, we are planning an
information gathering on Thurs-
10
day, August 4, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
in room 1414. We will have a full
1½ hour of information about
what we will see and how to
prepare for the experience.
Even if you are not sure about
going, please come anyway to be
fully informed about these travel
plans. If you have been there
before, come and relive the trip
and encourage those who are
contemplating joining the group.
This is an open tour; others are
welcome to join in and visit the
Land of the Bible. Printed information
is available. Please see
Donald Goertzen or email your
request to
dgoertzen3@neb.rr.com.
Sunday
Morning
Children’s
Ministry
Our children started a new
curriculum last Sunday (July 10)
and our kindergartner through
fifth grade students are now
studying the same Scripture each
week.
Sunday School
In Sunday school this morning
our children studied John 2:1-11
and learned about Jesus turning
the water into wine.
Children’s Church
In Children’s Church our
children learned about God
creating man and woman as they
studied Genesis 1:26–29; 2:7,
18–24. The principle we hope
they came away with is that God
created man to worship Him.
Parental Reinforcement
As you talk with your children,
be sure to ask them about
what they learned today in Sunday
School and Children’s Church. It
will be good for them to review
the truths they studied and it will
stretch their memories as they
verbalize the biblical account and
principle they learned.
