The settleability model was calibrated to the entire set of pilot data shown in Figure<br />

11-12, using the optimizer tool in <strong>GPS</strong>-X and the sum of squares objective function (i.e.<br />

least squares parameter estimation). The calibrated parameter values are given below:<br />

= 82 mg/L (parameter that controls the exponential shape of the removal<br />

efficiency vs. influent TSS relationship)<br />

A 3-dimensional plot of the calibrated settleability model is shown in Figure 11-13. The<br />

model shows the same trends as the measured pilot data shown in Figure 11-12. To<br />

check the performance of the calibrated settleability model, dynamic simulations were<br />

performed using the full RTB model and the measured influent TSS concentrations from<br />

the pilot tests. The simulation results showed reasonable agreement with the measured<br />

pilot study results given the estimated measurement error.<br />
