Controller Operation<br />

The CFSR object specifies oxygen transfer by using either a DO controller option or<br />

entering airflow as the manipulated variable in place of K La (similar to other DO<br />

controllers in <strong>GPS</strong>-X). The PID DO controller manipulates K La and back calculates the<br />

required airflow.<br />

The CFSR object contains one additional specify oxygen transfer by... option: The DO<br />

On/Off Controller is switches the airflow into the tank on and off depending on the<br />

specified DO high and low limits. How quickly action is taken by the controller (after the<br />

upper or lower limit is reached) is dependent on the controller’s specified sampling time.<br />

The CFSR object in <strong>GPS</strong>-X contains three additional Aeration Controllers which can be<br />

paired with any of the specify oxygen transfer by... options: timer, nitrate controller and<br />

the ammonia controller. These additional controllers can be seen in Figure 6-25. While<br />

the specify oxygen transfer by... controller options control only the DO concentration,<br />

the aeration controllers manage more complex aeration strategies in the tank. During<br />
