Killara continues Bengkulu due <strong>di</strong>ligence<br />

KILLARA Resources is continuing its due <strong>di</strong>ligence<br />

on the Bengkulu Coal Project in Sumatra<br />

and is negotiating an extension owing to wet<br />

weather which has prevented measurement of<br />

coal seam thicknesses in the recently identified<br />

outcrops.<br />

<strong>The</strong> rain increased river and tributary water levels<br />

and the proposed extension is expected to<br />

allow for re-assessment of the seams under more<br />

favourable field con<strong>di</strong>tions.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Bengkulu project covers 2000 hectares of<br />

the larger Bengkulu Forearc Basin. Regional geological<br />

mapping from Indonesia’s Ministry or<br />

Mining and Energy Resources along with initial<br />

Killara field work shows this covering the<br />

prospective Lemau Formation and an area of<br />

Quarternary volcanics.<br />

Lemau is the foremost coal-bearing formation<br />

in Bengkulu province.<br />

Despite poor field con<strong>di</strong>tions due to an extended<br />

wet season, Killara geologists identified and<br />

sampled two coal outcrops from the Lemau<br />

Formation with a potential strike length of 3.5km.<br />

Laboratory analysis of the samples was within<br />

expected ranges for the formation and in<strong>di</strong>cates<br />

the presence of a moderate energy, <strong>di</strong>rect export<br />

thermal coal with low levels of ash and sulphur.<br />

<strong>The</strong> due <strong>di</strong>ligence follows the executive of a<br />

Memorandum of Understan<strong>di</strong>ng agreeing on<br />

commercial terms to acquire an 85% interest in<br />

the Bengkulu province tenement.<br />

<strong>The</strong> due <strong>di</strong>ligence has comprised general reconnaissance<br />

mapping and representative sampling of<br />

coal occurrences along with socialization programs.<br />

Success will lead to a stratigraphic drilling<br />

campaign.<br />

<strong>The</strong> project is 100% APL forestry (Areal<br />

Pengunaan Lain or non-forestry) and no permits<br />

are required from the Indonesian Forestry<br />

Department to complete exploration or production<br />

activities.<br />

Following successful completion of the due<br />

<strong>di</strong>ligence Killara has the option to proceed with<br />

the transaction by way of a series of payments<br />

which in total amounts to US$2.75 million.<br />

If due <strong>di</strong>ligence is favourable Killara can elect<br />

to pay US$100,000 for the concession as an<br />

option exercise payment, a further US$100,000<br />

upon receipt of necessary permits to enable exploration,<br />

US$250,000 upon completion of an initial<br />

resource drilling program, US$300,000 upon the<br />

upgrade of concessions to production status,<br />

US$500,000 upon completion of a bankable feasibility<br />

study and decision to mine, and US$1.5 million<br />

to commence commercial production.<br />

Killara has also conducted legal due <strong>di</strong>ligence<br />

on the Nunukan Coal Project in East Kalimantan.<br />

<strong>The</strong> project comprises three IUPs that cover<br />

15,103 hectares of the largely unexplored Tarakan<br />

Basin coal province.<br />

<strong>The</strong> due <strong>di</strong>ligence showed that two of the IUPs<br />

were ‘Clean & Clear’ based on information provided<br />

by the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and<br />

Mining Resources, however the third one had<br />

expired.<br />

Given its integral nature to the Nunukan project,<br />

Killara has terminated any further work on the<br />

project pen<strong>di</strong>ng re-issuance of the ‘Clean & Clear’<br />

status.<br />

Killara <strong>terus</strong>kan ‘due <strong>di</strong>ligence’ Bengkulu<br />

KILLARA Resources sedang meneruskan ‘due<strong>di</strong>ligence’<br />

pada Proyek Batubara Bengkulu <strong>di</strong><br />

Sumatera dan tengah meminta perpanjangan<br />

waktu karena kesulitan pengukuran ketebalan<br />

batubara dan mengidentifikasi outcrops pada<br />

musim hujan yang telah menaikkan tinggi air <strong>di</strong><br />

sungai dan anak-anak sungai. Perpanjangan<br />

waktu akan memungkinkan evaluasi ulang dalam<br />

kon<strong>di</strong>si yang lebih baik.<br />

Proyek Bengkulu ini mencakup 2000 hektar<br />

dari Lingkaran Muka Dataran Bengkulu. Peta<br />

geologis setempat dari Kementerian<br />

Pertambangan dan Energi serta kerja-kerja awal<br />

Killara menunjukkan bahwa kawasan ini meliputi<br />

daerah prospektif Formasi Lemau yang ter<strong>di</strong>ri<br />

dari volcanis kwarternir.<br />

Lemau mempunyai formasi batubara utama <strong>di</strong><br />

Propinsi Bengkulu.<br />

Walaupun kon<strong>di</strong>si tidak memuaskan oleh karena<br />

hujan yang ber<strong>terus</strong>an, geolog-geolog Killara<br />

telah menemukan dan mencoba dua outcrops dari<br />

Formasi Lemau yang <strong>di</strong>perkirakan berpotensi<br />

panjang 3.5 km.<br />

Analisa laboratorium kedua sampel berada<br />

dalam batas-batas yang <strong>di</strong>harapkan dari formasi<br />

tersebut dan menunjukkan batubara panas dengan<br />

energy sederhana dan kadar abu dan sulfur yang<br />

rendah.<br />

Due <strong>di</strong>ligence <strong>di</strong>laksanakan setelah adanya<br />

MoU yang menyetujui syarat komersil bagi mendapatkan<br />

85% an<strong>di</strong>l dalam tenement Proponsi<br />

Bengkulu itu. Due <strong>di</strong>ligence ini ter<strong>di</strong>ri dari dan<br />

termasuk pemetaan umum dan percobaan<br />

batubara serta program-program sosialisasi.<br />

Keberhasilan akan membawa kampanye pemboran<br />

stratigrafis.<br />

Proyek ini adalah 100% APL perhutanan<br />

(Areal Penggunaan Lain atau non-perhutanan)<br />

dan tidak memerlukan izin-izin dari Departemen<br />

Perhutanan Indonesia bagi menyelesaikan<br />

eksplorasi atau kegiatan-kegiatan produksi.<br />

Seselesainya due <strong>di</strong>ligence yang berhasil Killara<br />

mempunyai opsi untuk melaksanakan transaksi<br />

menerusi pembayaran sejumlah AS$2,75 juta.<br />

Seandainya due <strong>di</strong>ligence sukses, Killara akan<br />

membayar AS$100,000 sebagai pembayaran opsi<br />

bagi konsensi tersebut, <strong>di</strong>tambah dengan<br />

AS$100,000 lagi setelah menerima izin-izin yang<br />

<strong>di</strong>perlukan untuk dapat memulai eksplorasi,<br />

AS$250,000 seselesainya program pemboran<br />

permulaan, AS$300,000 ketika peningkatakan<br />

status konsesi ke produksi, AS$500,000 seselesainya<br />

feasibility study dan keputusan untuk<br />

penambangan dan AS$1,5 juta untuk memulai<br />

produksi komersil.<br />

Killara telah pula melaksanakan due <strong>di</strong>ligence<br />

hukum <strong>di</strong> Proyek Batubara Nunukan <strong>di</strong><br />

Kalimantan Timur. Proyek ini ter<strong>di</strong>ri dari tiga IUP<br />

mencakup 15,103 hektar daerah propinsi<br />

batubara dataran Tarakan yang belum pernah<br />

<strong>di</strong>eksplorasi.<br />

Berdasarkan informasi Kementerian Sumber<br />

Tenaga dan Pertambangan Indonesia,dua IUP<br />

<strong>di</strong>nyatakan ‘Bersih dan jelas’ sedangkan yang<br />

ketiga telah daluwarsa.<br />

Karena proyek Nunukan bersifat satuan,<br />

Killara telah menghentikan kegiatan dalam<br />

proyek ini sampai mendapatkan status ‘Bersih<br />

dan Jelas’.<br />
