validated the new CALIOP calibration<br />

algorithms, which are crucial for providing<br />

accurate aerosol and cloud retrievals on the<br />

day side of the orbit. As an added bonus, the<br />

B-200 flew a coordinated pattern with the<br />

Wallops P-3B, along a CALIPSO track on the<br />

return transit, to acquire coincident data with<br />

the HSRL and the Geostationary Imaging<br />

Fabry-Perot Spectrometer (GIFS) prototype<br />

instrument flown on the P-3. Dr. Chris<br />

Hoseteler of <strong>NASA</strong> Langley was the Principal<br />

Investigator for the CALIPSO validation<br />

deployment.<br />
