added five new vertical<br />

grain exotic (VGE) woods to<br />

its Collector’s Series Exotic<br />

line. These drums offer a half<br />

dozen hand-selected woods<br />

from around the world.<br />

The available finishes are<br />

Macassar Ebony, Red<br />

Gum, Movingue, Koa<br />

and Cocobolo (shown).<br />

They are available over<br />

DW’s custom all-maple or<br />

all-birch shell, which can<br />

be combined with DW’s<br />

custom or specialty lacquer finishes<br />

and drum hardware colors.<br />

AKG has introduced the<br />

Perception 820 tube to its<br />

Perception series of microphones.<br />

The Perception 820 tube features<br />

a dual 1-inch true condenser large<br />

diaphragm, ECC 83 dual-triode<br />

tube circuitry and a remote<br />

control unit that allows for nine<br />

different pickup patterns. A<br />

ground lift switch prevents<br />

unwanted hum if necessary.<br />

The mic comes with a metal<br />
