about meter reading as on the last working day of each month.<br />

14. The licencee must at all reasonable times allow the authorized <strong>office</strong>r of<br />

the de<strong>part</strong>ment of <strong>Post</strong>s to inspect the machine and connected records<br />

without notice.<br />

15. The main <strong>Post</strong> Office shall maintain the following records :-<br />

Register showing list of licencees of Franking Machines<br />

authorized to post their articles in the <strong>Post</strong> Office. (This should<br />

be maintained in the 2 nd Office also).<br />

The register showing payments of advance rentals. The<br />

register will have a separate page allotted to each licensee.<br />

Franking Machine record book.<br />

Franking Machine ledger.<br />

Payments setting/Re-setting and sealing of the Machine.<br />

16. The licensee will pay in advance the amount of annual rental. The<br />

licensee will also pay the sum in advance representing the amount of<br />

postage for which he wishes the machine to be set at the time of hire and<br />

on subsequent occasions. This sum must not be less than Rs. 100/- or<br />

more than Rs. 9900/-.<br />

17. The payments including those of advance rentals should be either by<br />

cheque or by bank draft.<br />

18. The <strong>Post</strong> Office shall grant a receipt for any money paid by licencee in<br />

form ACG-67.<br />

19. The entries in respect of advance payments should be made by the<br />

setting/re-setting official in the Franking Machine Record Book. He will<br />

also make entries thereof in the connected records of the <strong>Post</strong> Offices and<br />

these entries should be got attested by the PM/DPM/SPM.<br />

20. The entry regarding advance payments should also be made by the<br />

setting/re-setting official in the body of the Franking Machine register of<br />

<strong>Post</strong>ings. Before doing so he will check the entries in the said register<br />

with reference to the entries in the said register with reference to the<br />

entries in the F.M. Ledger and re-concile the discrepancy, if any.
