<strong>Burton</strong> EuropEan opEn/GEnEral InformatIon<br />

The <strong>Burton</strong> <strong>European</strong> Open, BEO, part of the <strong>Burton</strong> Global Open Series, is the only Open Snowboarding Event in Europe,<br />

with freestyle competitions in the disciplines Halfpipe and Slopestyle. Innovative Freestyle Snowboarding is a key factor of the<br />

BEO, constantly pushing progression of the sport. The BEO is mainly all <strong>about</strong> bringing the best riders in the world – including<br />

Olympic Winners, World Champs & Snowboarding Legends – together with amateur riders at the beginning of their career, kids<br />

and juniors from 8-14. So the event addresses both sexes and all age categories. Top riders per discipline are invited and compete<br />

with qualified riders from the previously held <strong>open</strong> contests. More than 400 riders from all over the world, the BEO takes<br />

a full week to complete its contest riding, at the same time giving everyone the chance to go freeriding in between. The event<br />

venue is compact and easy accessible. Both Superpipe and Slopestyle are constructed on Crap Sogn Gion, very close to the<br />

mountain cable car station. The evenings are filled with international live concerts and parties in the Riders Palace and rocksresort.<br />

High competence and dedication of the organiser <strong>Burton</strong> Snowboards and the hosting resort Laax guarantee a top-level<br />

event! All snowboarding events are free to watch for the public.<br />

aBout <strong>Burton</strong> EuropEan opEn 2012<br />

Top riders and amateurs from around the world will participate in the 13th annual <strong>Burton</strong> <strong>European</strong> Open Snowboarding Championships<br />

(BEO) from February 25 - March 3, 2012 in LAAX, Switzerland. Over the years, the BEO has grown into Europe’s<br />

biggest on-snow event, showcasing the crème de la crème of international snowboarding and contributing to the progression of<br />

the sport with innovative Slopestyle courses and a perfect Superpipe. The BEO is also the premier breakthrough competition for<br />

upcoming riders, who often kick-start their snowboarding careers after excellent results at the BEO. The BEO is the third event<br />

of the 2011/2012 <strong>Burton</strong> Global Open Series (BGOS) and a 6Star TTR event where more than 400 riders – women, men and<br />

kids – have the chance to compete for prestigious titles, a piece of the $125,000 USD prize purse and key ranking points for<br />

both the TTR as well as the BGOS.<br />

In 1977, Jake <strong>Burton</strong> Carpenter founded <strong>Burton</strong> Snowboards out of his Vermont barn. Since then, <strong>Burton</strong> has fueled the growth<br />

of snowboarding worldwide through its groundbreaking product lines, its team of top snowboarders and its grassroots efforts to<br />
