The Burton European Open, BEO, part of the Burton Global Open Series, is the only Open Snowboarding Event in Europe,
with freestyle competitions in the disciplines Halfpipe and Slopestyle. Innovative Freestyle Snowboarding is a key factor of the
BEO, constantly pushing progression of the sport. The BEO is mainly all about bringing the best riders in the world – including
Olympic Winners, World Champs & Snowboarding Legends – together with amateur riders at the beginning of their career, kids
and juniors from 8-14. So the event addresses both sexes and all age categories. Top riders per discipline are invited and compete
with qualified riders from the previously held open contests. More than 400 riders from all over the world, the BEO takes
a full week to complete its contest riding, at the same time giving everyone the chance to go freeriding in between. The event
venue is compact and easy accessible. Both Superpipe and Slopestyle are constructed on Crap Sogn Gion, very close to the
mountain cable car station. The evenings are filled with international live concerts and parties in the Riders Palace and rocksresort.
High competence and dedication of the organiser Burton Snowboards and the hosting resort Laax guarantee a top-level
event! All snowboarding events are free to watch for the public.
Top riders and amateurs from around the world will participate in the 13th annual Burton European Open Snowboarding Championships
(BEO) from February 25 - March 3, 2012 in LAAX, Switzerland. Over the years, the BEO has grown into Europe’s
biggest on-snow event, showcasing the crème de la crème of international snowboarding and contributing to the progression of
the sport with innovative Slopestyle courses and a perfect Superpipe. The BEO is also the premier breakthrough competition for
upcoming riders, who often kick-start their snowboarding careers after excellent results at the BEO. The BEO is the third event
of the 2011/2012 Burton Global Open Series (BGOS) and a 6Star TTR event where more than 400 riders – women, men and
kids – have the chance to compete for prestigious titles, a piece of the $125,000 USD prize purse and key ranking points for
both the TTR as well as the BGOS.
