Added <strong>to</strong> Garrard's "Art <strong>of</strong> Warre" (pp. 353-368). Hitchcock thus<br />

describes the contents: "Within this generall proportion, I doe declare<br />

first for Bread <strong>and</strong> Beere, the Bakehouse <strong>and</strong> Brewhouse, the Grayners for<br />

s<strong>to</strong>re, the Windmilles, the Horsemylles, with theyr implements: the caske<br />

<strong>and</strong> other necessary things, the charges <strong>of</strong> men, horses, <strong>and</strong> carryages <strong>to</strong> the<br />

same belonging, with theyr wages <strong>and</strong> allowance for theyr trauaile <strong>and</strong><br />

seruice. How thys proportion is <strong>to</strong> be prouided, vsed, deliuered <strong>and</strong> spent,<br />

in reading ouer thys little worke following, you shall find very short <strong>and</strong><br />

playne." This is the first list <strong>of</strong> its kind <strong>to</strong> be found in a <strong>military</strong> book.<br />
