ADAPTED programming ADAPTED PROGRAMMING These activities are modified to fit the needs and skills of people with physical, sensory or developmental disabilities. Early registration is encouraged to meet minimum enrollment requirements. Tailgate Softball Game All ages, Fee: $8 PLAY BALL! We will have a good old-fashioned baseball game and cook-out. Bring your mitts, hats and running shoes. After the game we’ll have a tailgate cookout party. The emphasis is on noncompetitive practice, sportsmanship and fun! Athletes are responsible for paying a $4.50 weekly fee to bowl three games. Meets nine weeks. Our programs are intended to develop leisure skills and enhance socialization. In addition, adapted programming promotes participation in general (inclusive) recreation programs through advocacy and support services. Volunteers Needed Lake Metroparks’ Outdoor Education Department strives to include participants with disabilities in our programs and special events, and we need your help. Volunteers will be matched with a participant who needs assistance. All that is required is a small time commitment, patience and lots of enthusiasm. Active Lifestyles B Fit 4 Life All ages, Fee: $15 It is a proven fact that walking is one of the best types of exercise to improve your health. The national recommendation is that you walk 10,000 steps or the equivalent daily. The fee includes a pedometer, a calendar with programs and walking opportunities, a list of step equivalents and a steps log.
