These activities are modified to fit the needs and skills of people with physical, sensory or developmental disabilities.<br />

Tailgate Softball Game<br />

All ages, Fee: $8<br />

PLAY BALL! We will have a good old-fashioned baseball game and cook-out.<br />

Bring your mitts, hats and running shoes. After the game we’ll have a tailgate<br />

<strong>Fall</strong> Hike & Nature Craft<br />

Ages 5 and older, Fee: $7<br />

Let’s hike at the scenic Environmental Learning Center to collect leaves and<br />

other natural items. The only limit is your imagination! We’ll come back and<br />

make a fall leaf suncatcher and enjoy a snack.<br />

Stomp Rockets<br />

NEW!<br />

Ages 5 and older, Fee: $7<br />

Make your own stomp rocket while you learn about the motion of force. We will<br />

take turns launching and see whose can go the farthest!<br />

Fishing Fun<br />

Ages 5 and older, Fee: $5<br />

Cast your line and catch fish and fun at Hidden <strong>Lake</strong>! Learn fishing basics as<br />

we catch largemouth bass and bluegill. Fishing poles and bait provided.<br />

Seasonal Nature Journal Hike<br />

Ages 8 and older, Fee: $5<br />

The Environmental Learning Center is the perfect place for easygoing nature<br />

walks. Preserve your memories in your very own nature journal by writing,<br />

drawing or rubbings. Fee includes your own journal.<br />

Special Olympics Bowling<br />

Ages 8 and older, Fee: $25<br />

Develop and strengthen your bowling skills. The emphasis is on noncompetitive<br />

practice, sportsmanship and fun! Athletes are responsible for<br />

paying a $4.50 weekly fee to bowl three games. Meets nine weeks.<br />

Mon., Sept. 30, 4:30 to 6 p.m., Game of Wickliffe<br />

More than S’mores Hike<br />

Ages 10 and older, Fee: $5<br />

Join us for an evening walk at Penitentiary Glen Reservation, then we’ll gather<br />

at a roaring fire for s’mores and hot chocolate.<br />

Browns Fans Party<br />

Ages 12 and older, Fee: $10<br />

Calling all Browns fans! Let’s get together and watch our favorite team in the<br />

<strong>2013</strong> season. Wear your Browns gear and be ready to cheer on your favorite<br />

local team. Snacks and lunch provided. Go Browns!<br />

Glee Club Teens<br />

Join in as we dance and sing to pop songs from the show GLEE. No musical<br />

experience necessary! We’ll rock out on drums and percussion and learn some<br />

creative choreography. Meets five sessions.<br />

Dinner & a Movie<br />

Ages 14 and older, Fee: $22<br />

Meet us at Mentor Max & Erma’s for dinner, then head to a fun movie with<br />

your friends at nearby Great <strong>Lake</strong>s Stadium 16.<br />

Adapted Jazzercise<br />

Ages 14 and older, Fee: $48<br />

Participants learn coordination, motor development, muscle toning and fun<br />

and leave feeling relaxed, refreshed and revitalized. Wear comfortable clothing<br />

and supportive shoes. Meets 12 sessions.<br />

Wed., Sept. 25, 6 to 7 p.m., Broadmoor School<br />

Adapted Floor Hockey<br />

Ages 14 and older, Fee $20<br />

Learn the basics while having fun playing floor hockey. You’ll work on<br />

quickness and agility. Practice drills and game play will be covered. No skates<br />

needed! Meets four sessions. Instructor: Leigh Garam, min 10, max 20<br />

Tues., Nov. 5, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Broadmoor School<br />

Boo Bash Halloween Dance<br />

Ages 14 and older, Fee: $5<br />

Shine your dancing shoes and join us for an afternoon of fun at the Halloween<br />

dance. Come in costume. Concession stand will be open and Billy J Disc<br />

Access Statement<br />

<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Metroparks</strong>’ adapted programming provides high-quality recreational<br />

activities designed to meet the needs and interests of individuals with<br />

disabilities in specialized environments. Our programs are intended to<br />

develop leisure skills and enhance socialization. In addition, adapted<br />

programming promotes participation in general (inclusive) recreation<br />

programs through advocacy and support services.<br />

Volunteers Needed<br />

<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Metroparks</strong>’ Outdoor Education Department strives to include<br />

participants with disabilities in our programs and special events, and we<br />

need your help. Volunteers will be matched with a participant who needs<br />

assistance. All that is required is a small time commitment, patience and<br />

lots of enthusiasm. Learn a new skill and make a friend, or simply share a<br />
