Chamber Welcomes New
Board Chairman
Bobby Arnold, President/CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare and 2012-2013 board chairman for the
Jackson Chamber, passed the gavel to the new board chairman in the chamber’s January board of directors
meeting. Roy Heatherly, President/Publisher, The Jackson Sun, will follow Arnold as the chamber’s
new board chairman. Heatherly will serve a one-year term.
“The chamber is a great resource and a great advocate for my business and other businesses in
Jackson,” Heatherly said. “It is also is a great place to network and build both professional and personal
relationships.”
During his career, Heatherly has worked not only in Tennessee, but also in Louisiana and Kansas. He
also serves on other areas, such as board chairman for United Way, secretary for the West Tennessee
Healthcare board, the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse board, the
Jackson Downtown Development board and The Star Center board.
While in his role as chairman, Heatherly says he will strive to continue the implementation of both
the chamber’s strategic plan, as well as the continuing to build the coalition between other Chamber of
Commerce’s in West Tennessee and the communities they serve.
“I want to nurture the trust and make sure everyone has a voice as we position West Tennessee for
the business growth that will happen very soon,” Heatherly said.
After working in other communities, Heatherly knew Jackson was where he wanted to continue his career.
“What makes Jackson special – it’s the people,” he said. “We have great neighbors. You will not find more concerned, passionate caring people
than in Jackson.
As the board chairman this year, Heatherly is prepared to help people connect in Jackson.
“Too often we allow others who don’t know us or have perceptions of us position us,” he said. “I want to draw a line in the sand and send out
a clear and loud message. The message that Jackson and West Tennessee is alive, and we are positioned to grow because we are the best.”
With his role as board chairmen coming to an end, Arnold thanked and recognized board members, chamber staff, Jackson business leaders
and West Tennessee Healthcare for their support during his role.
“I feel very fortunate to work for an organization that supports the community and whose support has allowed me the time and opportunity
to serve in this capacity,” Arnold said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside other business leaders.”
In addition to the new board chairmen, the chamber welcomed five new members to the board of directors:
