This year’s event will be special thanks<br />
to the <strong>in</strong>auguration <strong>of</strong> the first season<br />
<strong>of</strong> a newly constructed mar<strong>in</strong>a <strong>in</strong> the<br />
vic<strong>in</strong>ity <strong>of</strong> the Sport <strong>and</strong> Recreation<br />
Centre (SRC), jo<strong>in</strong>ed with the promotion<br />
<strong>of</strong> water recreation <strong>in</strong> our town <strong>and</strong><br />
the recreation festival at the premises<br />
<strong>of</strong> the SRC. On that day, the City<br />
Mayor shall break the bottle <strong>of</strong> champagne<br />
on the wharf, which is to be a<br />
symbolic nam<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> this mar<strong>in</strong>a. The<br />
event star will be a pop s<strong>in</strong>ger Sylwia<br />
Grzeszczak.<br />
MALBORK MAY PICNIK BY THE WATER 5 th May<br />
An outdoors event, organised every third weekend <strong>of</strong> July; the event<br />
jo<strong>in</strong>s the historical climate <strong>of</strong> the town, which <strong>in</strong>corporates the biggest<br />
Mediaeval European fortress <strong>and</strong> active enterta<strong>in</strong>ment <strong>and</strong> education<br />
activities. It is related to <strong>events</strong> which happened 600 years ago, when<br />
the victorious army <strong>of</strong> k<strong>in</strong>g Władysław Jagiełło set <strong>of</strong>f from Grunwald<br />
towards the Teutonic Order castle. At this time <strong>of</strong> year, Polish <strong>and</strong> foreign<br />
knight frats arrive to <strong>Malbork</strong>. There are 350 <strong>of</strong> them. All <strong>of</strong> them<br />
take part <strong>in</strong> a historical stag<strong>in</strong>g present<strong>in</strong>g the siege <strong>of</strong> the castle. Numerous<br />
attractions <strong>in</strong> the castle area make everyone feel the Mediaeval<br />
climate. These attractions <strong>in</strong>clude: a knights camp, a fair <strong>of</strong> Mediaeval<br />
h<strong>and</strong>icrafts, horse-rid<strong>in</strong>g shows.<br />

THE MALBORK SIEGE 19 th -22 nd July MAGIC MALBORK 11 th August<br />
Castle Museum – at <strong>Malbork</strong> Castle Museum visitors can see permanent<br />
exhibitions, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g rich collections <strong>of</strong> amber objects, military items <strong>and</strong><br />
Gothic sculptures, as well as several temporary exhibitions. It is visited<br />
each year by more than half a million tourists from All over the world.<br />
The Museum also conducts educational activities, teach<strong>in</strong>g children<br />
through fun activities, <strong>and</strong> older pupils through active lessons. An <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
unconventional <strong>and</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>al way <strong>of</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g about the Castel <strong>and</strong> its<br />

theatres, that make tourists’ stay more attractive but also a place for relax<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Model <strong>of</strong> <strong>Malbork</strong> Castle – a great place to take a souvenir photo <strong>of</strong> your<br />
visit to <strong>Malbork</strong>! This model is made <strong>of</strong> more than a million specially baked<br />
bricks. With a base measur<strong>in</strong>g 11 x 5 metres, <strong>and</strong> built to a scale <strong>of</strong> 1:30, the<br />
model attracts both tourists <strong>and</strong> residents <strong>of</strong> the town.<br />
„Money lays on streets” – three alum<strong>in</strong>ium co<strong>in</strong>s are recent new elements<br />
<strong>of</strong> the small architecture. Fixed on specially prepared stones, they memorize<br />
the fact that s<strong>in</strong>ce the 15th century, a m<strong>in</strong>t was five time function<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>Malbork</strong>.<br />
The medieval siege eng<strong>in</strong>es – the exhibition was prepared on a gr<strong>and</strong><br />
scale <strong>and</strong> it is the largest collection <strong>of</strong> its k<strong>in</strong>d <strong>in</strong> the world. All mach<strong>in</strong>es<br />
have been reconstructed with the utmost attention to detail us<strong>in</strong>g orig<strong>in</strong>al<br />
medieval craft techniques.<br />
Seasonal <strong>and</strong> all-year long attractions<br />
Tourist tra<strong>in</strong> – this remarkable vehicle, consist<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> a locomotive <strong>and</strong> two<br />
carriages, travels on the streets <strong>of</strong> <strong>Malbork</strong> between 1 June <strong>and</strong> 30 September,<br />
start<strong>in</strong>g at 9 am. It makes it easier for travellers to see the town,<br />

D<strong>in</strong>o Park – on 4,5 hectares park, there are numerous attractions, such<br />
as: 5D c<strong>in</strong>ema, fossil museum, playground for children <strong>and</strong> educational<br />

Jumpy Park – <strong>Malbork</strong> high ropes park <strong>of</strong>fers one <strong>of</strong> the longest, 1200<br />
metres, routes <strong>in</strong> Pol<strong>and</strong>. Everyone, regardless the age, can try own skills,<br />
hav<strong>in</strong>g the unforgettable fun, effort <strong>and</strong> adrenal<strong>in</strong>e. Attraction is open from<br />
the 1st May to the half <strong>of</strong> October.<br />

M<strong>in</strong>i-Golf – new leisure facility for the town’s residents <strong>and</strong> tourists. This<br />
is a superb way <strong>of</strong> spend<strong>in</strong>g free time <strong>in</strong> the fresh air, suitable for everyone<br />
regardless <strong>of</strong> age <strong>and</strong> fitness. The course is open from May to September.<br />

Rock-climb<strong>in</strong>g, tennis, sports pitch <strong>and</strong> ice r<strong>in</strong>k – dur<strong>in</strong>g the summer season<br />
a rock-climb<strong>in</strong>g wall is available, with a surface area <strong>of</strong> approximately 100<br />
square metres, measur<strong>in</strong>g 11 metres wide <strong>and</strong> between 5.5 <strong>and</strong> 10.5 metres<br />
high. Climbers are looked after by tra<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong>structors. Tourists <strong>and</strong> residents<br />
can also make use <strong>of</strong> tennis courts with a brick surface, <strong>and</strong> a sports hall with<br />
special sports pitches with a synthetic surface. Ice r<strong>in</strong>k operates dur<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
w<strong>in</strong>ter season, from November to March. The r<strong>in</strong>k, measur<strong>in</strong>g 20 x 40 metres,<br />

MARIANEK is the <strong>of</strong>ficial mascot designed by a resident <strong>of</strong> the town. It<br />
shows the armoured knight with cape <strong>and</strong> red cheeks. The mascot is<br />
present at all <strong>events</strong> organized by the town <strong>of</strong> <strong>Malbork</strong>, encourag<strong>in</strong>g residents<br />
<strong>and</strong> tourists to jo<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> the fun.<br />

will be a music star performance.<br />
This year it will be Zakopower.<br />
One <strong>of</strong> the attractions will be<br />
watch<strong>in</strong>g live football competitions<br />

The event will be accompanied by<br />
sport competitions <strong>and</strong> a family<br />
festival with numerous contests<br />

MALBORK DAYS - TOWN FESTIVAL IN SPORTY STYLE, 15 th – 16 th June<br />
The second largest outdoors event <strong>in</strong> <strong>Malbork</strong>. The ma<strong>in</strong> po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>of</strong> Magic<br />
<strong>Malbork</strong> is an unique even<strong>in</strong>g performance at the von Plauen Banks by<br />
the castle, jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g various forms <strong>of</strong> art: music, dance, image <strong>and</strong> light.<br />
Comb<strong>in</strong>ation <strong>of</strong> several dance <strong>and</strong> acrobatic groups with laser, light <strong>and</strong><br />
pyrotechnic affects shows <strong>and</strong> breathtak<strong>in</strong>g acrobatics at heights make<br />
show hypnotis<strong>in</strong>g for several thous<strong>and</strong>s <strong>of</strong> spectators. Magic <strong>Malbork</strong><br />
Show is organised for fourth time. The event is ends with a fireworks<br />

The project is organised <strong>in</strong> all European<br />
Union countries. The aim <strong>of</strong> this <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />
program, is <strong>in</strong>spired by the Belgian<br />
Responsible Young Drivers Foundation, <strong>in</strong><br />
order reduce the number <strong>of</strong> drunk drivers,<br />
thereby the number <strong>of</strong> road accidents.<br />
Dur<strong>in</strong>g the even<strong>in</strong>g, volunteers encourage<br />
young drivers to behave <strong>in</strong> a responsible<br />
way <strong>and</strong> do not dr<strong>in</strong>k, to be able to drive<br />
themselves <strong>and</strong> their friends safely to their<br />
homes after a night at a disco or a club.<br />
As the <strong>in</strong>dication <strong>of</strong> tak<strong>in</strong>g part <strong>in</strong> the<br />
campaign, participants wear blue bracelets,<br />
which <strong>in</strong>dicates their declaration <strong>of</strong> not<br />
dr<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> driv<strong>in</strong>g. There is also a<br />
chance to be tested by an breathalyzer.<br />
Responsible drivers are awarded with small<br />
gifts <strong>and</strong> people who were tested to be<br />
<strong>in</strong>toxicated, are encouraged to leave their<br />
vehicles <strong>and</strong> use an alternative mean <strong>of</strong><br />
transport.<br />

On this day, it is a tradition that citizens,<br />
especially children who impatiently look for<br />
Santa, will be <strong>of</strong>fered numerous Christmas<br />
attractions prepared by the city. The<br />
youngest citizens <strong>of</strong> <strong>Malbork</strong> will be for sure<br />
pleased by the lottery with many <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g<br />
prizes, founded by the event partners. The<br />
enterta<strong>in</strong>ment programme prepared by<br />
organises will make all spectators feel the<br />
Christmas mood.<br />
29. THE 22ND FESTIVAL “CHRISTMAS IN<br />
ARTS”,<br />
from the 6th <strong>of</strong> December, 2012 till the<br />
25th <strong>of</strong> January, 2013<br />

One <strong>of</strong> the characteristics <strong>of</strong> the festival<br />
is attendance <strong>of</strong> kids <strong>and</strong> teenagers <strong>in</strong><br />
organised workshops, reviews <strong>and</strong> local, f<strong>in</strong>e<br />
arts, literature <strong>and</strong> theatrical competitions.<br />
Christmas carols are performed at <strong>Malbork</strong>’s<br />
churches.<br />
30. THE TASTIEST POMERANIAN ADVENT<br />
FAIR,<br />
15th-16th December<br />

organisers: the <strong>Malbork</strong> Castle Museum,<br />
<strong>Malbork</strong> City Hall, <strong>Malbork</strong> Welcome Centre<br />
Third edition <strong>of</strong> the Tastiest Pomeranian<br />
Advent Fair. The ma<strong>in</strong> idea <strong>of</strong> the Fair is to<br />
present regional meals, prepared by regional<br />
producers <strong>and</strong> manufacturers. The Advent<br />
Fair <strong>in</strong>cludes also presentation <strong>of</strong> Christmas<br />
h<strong>and</strong>icraft products <strong>and</strong> artistic items, which<br />
are perfect to become Christmas gifts. The<br />
Fair will be accompanied by numerous<br />
<strong>cultural</strong> <strong>and</strong> enterta<strong>in</strong>ment <strong>events</strong>, many<br />
competitions <strong>and</strong> attractions.<br />
