called KOSSEL image. Even the idea is – for a classical geometer – very
simple, it was unknown to material scientists.
7 Conclusion
What can be done to improve geometry education at all levels We, the
national societies for geometry and graphics should work together in
making study plans for Bachelor studies for teachers, engineers, architects,
geodesists, … with Geometry, before engineers make these plans with no
Geometry education at all. We teachers in Constructive Geometry should
support each other at our different locations at Universities to avoid
isolation.
We should do lobbying, cultivate contacts to other faculties, and we
should be present in public and show, what we are doing.
One important thing is to organise conferences and workshops, where
we also invite alumni with jobs in industry to give lectures. By this we
could get used to each other’s professional language to diminish
communication difficulties.
Last but not least we should support exchange of Geometry students and
teaching staff on the basis of Erasmus or DAAD stipends.
And we never should give up to show that Geometry is a basic human
skill, a mighty tool for solving problems and for systemizing them, and that
it is the most beautiful science mankind has developed!
