HE, Dip HE, BA, BSc, LLB, BEng, MEng, MComp & BArch programmes.
Postgraduate Students undertake MA, MSc, MBA, LLM, MArch, MRes, and any other
Masters programmes, Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, or
Research programmes.
Part Time Students undertake undergraduate and postgraduate programmes over an
extended registration period longer than the equivalent full time programme.
Distance Learning Programmes are the provision of programmes or parts of
programmes supported mainly by materials delivered by electronic means OR delivery of
provision where the students seldom attend any of the main University campuses or
Collaborative Partners
Off-Campus Programmes are delivered by the University or by another accredited
institution on behalf of the University of Lincoln.
What does student status mean
Your student status and the level of tuition fee that you pay is determined by your nationality
and the country where you are ‘ordinarily resident’.
Students are classified as either “Home”, “EU”, “Channel Islands” or “Overseas” for Tuition
Fees and Student Financial Support Purposes.
To qualify for Home/EU student status, the main eligibility criteria is to either have:
• UK/EU citizenship/nationality and have been domiciled in the UK for 3 years prior to the first
day of the first year of your academic course. (The main reason for residing in the UK must not
have been for the purpose of full time education) or;
• Been granted refugee status by the Government or:
• Been granted “indefinite leave to remain”, “discretionary leave to remain” or “humanitarian
protection” by the UK Home Office and been domiciled in the UK and Islands since having
been granted that status or;
• UK/EU citizenship/nationality, have been domiciled in the European Economic Area (EEA) for
3 years prior to the first day of the first year of your academic course (the main reason for
residing in the EEA must not have been for the purpose of full-time education).
A detailed schedule of the categories into which students can fall, in order to be eligible for
‘Home’ status, can be found at the following web address.
http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/student/fees_student_support.php
If you are classed as an “Overseas’ student at the time you apply/enrol on your
programme, and you do not believe your student status is correct, then you will need to
complete a fee assessment questionnaire and forward it to Student Administration.
A decision will be made based on the information provided, and your fees will be charged
accordingly.
Most Home/EU undergraduate students are eligible for UK government funding to pay their
tuition fees via a tuition fee loan, which you can take out each year through the Student Loans
Page 2 of 17

Company. You will only pay back the loan after you graduate and only when you are earning in
excess of £21,000.
All students, both undergraduate and postgraduate must make arrangements for the payment
of their academic tuition fees BEFORE they are permitted to complete the enrolment process.
Please ensure that you bring supporting documentation with you to enrolment, as laid out in
the ‘ways to pay’ section of this guide.
All payments must be made in Pounds Sterling (£).
Please note that whichever payment option is taken, all tuition fees must be paid in full prior to
graduation and/or before enrolling for the next academic year. Payment plans will be
structured accordingly to enable this.
Please note, all tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change.
