some new and some repeated by popular demand. Choose the 

class or classes you want to sign up for and SIGN UP EARLY! If you wait 

until the last minute, there’s a chance we’ll have to cancel the class or if you 

wait too long the class might be full. 

What is Community Education 

Community Education is a Yuba College department here to serve the community 

by providing educational classes and activities to meet the needs 

and interests of both young and young at heart who want to embark on a 

new learning journey. Classes are offered in addition to the college’s instructional 

program; credits are not given for these classes and there are no 

grades or tests. The program is self-supporting and is not funded by taxpayer’s 

dollars.

General Information 

Community Education courses can only be taught with the minimum number 

of students enrolled prior to the first class meeting. This is why we ask you to 

register as early as possible. By enrolling ahead of time, you reserve a seat in a 

“high demand” course, the minimum number of students will be met and cancellation 

of the class is avoided. 

Registration for Community Education courses begins in mid March and continues 

each month as classes begin. Please make every effort to enroll at least 

SEVEN days before the start date of the class. Registration is permitted the 

day of the class on a space-available basis call ahead to confirm availability. 

Please don’t take a chance that your class may be cancelled, ENROLL TO- 

DAY!

Checks should include driver’s license number and expiration date and be made payable to 

YUBA COLLEGE. Registration should arrive in our office at least one week before the 

start of the course. 

There’s a fee of $35 fee for returned checks. 



Early Registration 

Assures a place in “high demand” courses. Registration is on a first-come, 

first-served basis. Please make every effort to preregister at least seven (7) 

days before the class, workshop, or seminar start date. 

Refunds and Cancellations 

Community Education courses are self-supporting and does not receive 

state or federal funds. Course registration fees cover instructors salaries, 

supplies, and equipment costs. Therefore, Community Education cannot 

issue refunds once a course begins. All fees are automatically refunded if 

the Community Education Office cancels a class. If you pay by credit card, 

check or cash, you will receive a check in the mail from our business office. 

If you will not be attending a course for which you have registered and seek 

a refund, notify the Community Education Office with a written request 

or a phone call to withdraw from a course seven (7) days prior to course 

start date. All refunds or credits will be less a $10 processing fee for each 

class dropped (except for the Motorcycle Safety Program and Day Trips). 

Refunds for Motorcycle Safety are less $30. Full fee credits can be applied 

to another course. To receive your refund your social security number is 

required by the business office. In order to receive your full refund you 

would need to cancel at least seven days prior to class. Students may also 

send a substitute in their place or transfer their registration to another course, 

workshop, or seminar. 

Parking Rules 

Yuba College Community Education classes usually take place on weekends. 

A parking pass is required. 

$1.00 Daily Parking Pass--NON REFUNDABLE 

Please contact the Registration office, Building 100B, or the Police Department 

and obtain a $1.00 daily parking pass or use the kiosks located in the parking 

lots. To contact the Yuba College Police Department personnel use the call 

box located at the Yuba College Police Department Office building 1600, 

Warren Hall (mounted on wall next to main entrance door). Advise the officer 

that a parking pass is needed.

Refunds or transfers are not available for the Community Education Day Trips and/or 

Tours unless your space can be resold.

not paid for with state, local, or federal funding. 

Paying for your Classes 

Community Education does not accept Financial Aid or Board of Governors Fee Waiver 

(BOGW). Some students may be able to apply to the State Rehabilitation Department for 

funding of job related courses. 

Tuition Reimbursement 

This is a terrific opportunity to make you a more valuable employee with the up-to-date 

skills employers are currently looking for! Community Education accepts company 

checks for any class. Please register at least seven (7) working days prior to the class 

starting date.

Inspector 

There's more to a home inspection than 

just looking around a building. It's an 

entire process of communication skills 

combined with construction knowledge

Firearms Certification 

California law requires that first time applicants 

for concealed weapons permits, 

as well as those seeking renewal of their 

CCW, attend a course of instruction from 

a certified presenter. Upon successful 

completion of this course, a completion 

letter of qualification will be issued which 

can be presented to your county issuing 

agency that accepts this course as meeting 

the training specification of the new law. 

Applicants for renewal must present their 

current CCW permit to the instructor on the

This is a National Restaurant Association 

ServSafe Class. California State Law requires 

every food establishment that serves 

and prepares open food to have a certified 

food protection manager on staff. This class 

concludes with the examination. The examination 

is sent to the National Restaurant 

Association in Chicago for grading. It takes 

3-4 weeks to get the results back. If the 

exam is passed, a certificate is issued which 

complies with the new laws and is valid 

for 5 years. Students must purchase the 

ServSafe Essentials, current edition book.

Dialysis Technician 

Program 

This 50-hour Dialysis Technician Program 

provides students with the knowledge 

and skills needed to perform both 

the duties required of Dialysis Technicians. 

Under the supervision of physicians 

and registered nurses, Dialysis 

Technicians operate kidney dialysis machines, 

prepare dialyzer reprocessing and 

delivery systems as well as maintain and 

repair equipment. Furthermore, technicians 

work with patients during dialysis 

procedures and monitor and record vital 

signs as well as administer local anesthetics 

and drugs as needed. Dialysis 

Technicians must also assess patients 

for any complications that occur during 

the procedure and must be ready to take 

necessary emergency measures including 

administering oxygen or performing Basic 

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Additionally, 

they may also be involved in 

the training of patients for at-home dialysis 

treatment and providing them with the 

emotional support they need for self-care.

national or state certification as part of its 

overall objectives. Additionally there is 

no student internship or clinical rotation

Pharmacy Technician 

Program 

This comprehensive 50-hour course will 

prepare students to enter the pharmacy 

field and take the Pharmacy Technician 

Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Technicians 

work in hospitals, home infusion 

pharmacies, community pharmacies and 

other health care settings – working under 

the supervision of a registered pharmacist. 

Course content includes medical terminology 

specific to the pharmacy, reading 

and interpreting prescriptions and defining 

drugs by generic and brand names. Students

dispensing of prescriptions, inventory

This combined 70-hour billing and coding 

course offers the skills needed to solve insurance 

billing problems, how to manually 

file claims (using the CPT and ICD-9 manual), 

complete common insurance forms, 

trace delinquent claims, appeal denied 

claims and use generic forms to streamline 

billing procedures. The course covers 

the following areas: CPT (Introduction, 

Guidelines, Evaluation and Management), 

specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology

A little history about Salsa Dancing: Salsa 

is being danced all over the world. Salsa is

dances. There are different styles; every

is the Colombian, the Cuban, and the Antillean 

style. The traditional style is the 

Cuban style. Salsa has become the commercial 

name of the different Latin American 

dance rhythms and expressions such 

as Samba, Rumba, Mambo, Cha-cha-cha,

hip-hop artist Cupid, the Cupid Shuffle has 

become a very popular dance. The dance 

is a hip-hop variant to country line dancing 

and is extremely simple to perform, 

especially since all the steps are sung in 

the lyrics. This dance quickly gained popularity 

at nightclubs due to its easy-to-learn 

nature and catchy beat. Even the most 

novice dancer can perform it by the end of 

the second chorus. Many have compared 

the dance to the Cha Cha Slide, which was

a family history memoir book. It combines

Basic Rider Course 

The Basic Rider Course is the most popular 

of the two courses offered, it is designed primarily 

for beginning and inexperienced riders. 

All riders must successfully complete 

this course to obtain a motorcycle license 

or endorsement. Upon successful completion 

of the Basic Rider Course students are 

mailed a Certificate of Completion of Motorcycle 

Training (DL389) within 10 working 

business days. The motorcycle riding 

test given by the DMV may be waived with 

this certification. The course consists of 5 

hours of classroom and 10 hours of on-cycle 

riding instruction. The training includes 

familiarization with the motorcycle, starting 

and stopping, riding in a straight lines and 

circles, weaving and offset weaving, shifting 

and turning, sharp turns, lane changes, 

controlling rear wheel skids, swerving to 

avoid obstacles, quick stops, cornering and 

much more. You’ll find out how alcohol and 

other drugs adversely affect your ability to 

ride safety. Once your Rider Coach hands 

you the course-completion grad card you 

will be happy knowing that you’ve gone 

the extra mile to develop your own safe 

riding techniques 

Experienced Rider 

Course 

The Experienced Rider Course was designed 

for riders who have successfully completed 

the Basic Rider Course or those who are 

already licensed and frequently ride. The 

students use their own street-ready motorcycle. 

There is no knowledge test or skill 

test. No DMV certification, (DL389) will 

be issued for this course. 

The Experienced Rider Course consists of 4 

1/2 hours of off street riding instruction with 

exercise debriefs. Subject areas include: 

weaving, quick stops, limited space maneuvers, 

cornering judgement and swerving. 

Experienced riders may bring a passenger 

to participate in the course so that they learn 

skills to properly ride together. 

Naturally, riders who want to take the Experienced 

Rider Course must be proficient 

in the basic riding skills--including shifting,

Traffic Violation School 

Traffic Violator School is conducted by 

Yuba College in cooperation with local 

traffic courts. In some instances, traffic 

offenders may be able to attend traffic

vehicle laws, and much more. The object 

is to make each student more aware of his/ 

her responsibilities as a driver and to create

Spanish for the 

Classroom 

Spanish for the Classroom is an on-line 

course for teachers that cover the essential 

Spanish they need to communicate effectively 

with Spanish-speaking students and 

parents. Unlike the high school foreign 

language classes we all remember, this 

course does not include long vocabulary 

lists or complex grammar rules. Instead, 

it uses games and stories to make learning 

easy, painless, and even fun! 

New sessions of each course run every 

month. They last six weeks, with two new 

lessons being released weekly (for a total 

of 12). The courses are entirely web-based 

with comprehensive lessons, quizzes, and 

assignments. Dedicated professional instructors 

facilitate every course; pacing
