EVENT SYNOPSIS<br />
Alan will be talking about his books,<br />
particularly Harry and the Treasure of<br />
Eddie Carver, the long-awaited sequel<br />
to his best-selling Harry and the<br />
Wrinklies. He will be reading extracts<br />
from several titles; showing the<br />
development of a book from first idea<br />
to finished volume; possibly telling<br />
stories of childhood; and answering<br />
questions.<br />
Biography<br />
Alan was born and educated in Sunderland. He has had three<br />
careers: merchant seaman, teacher of English and author. He cares<br />
very much about our treatment of animals and the natural world.<br />
His home is in southwest Scotland.<br />

and the Whitbread Children’s Book Award. He was appointed Children's Laureate in 2003.<br />
