<strong>Kim</strong> <strong>Gillis</strong> is <strong>vice</strong> <strong>president</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>managing</strong> <strong>director</strong> of <strong>Boeing</strong> Defence <strong>Australia</strong>.<br />
Named to this position in June 2011, <strong>Gillis</strong> manages all <strong>Boeing</strong> Defence <strong>Australia</strong><br />
businesses <strong>and</strong> functions at the organisation’s 15 sites across the country <strong>and</strong> four<br />
international locations. His duties include the establishment <strong>and</strong> execution of new <strong>and</strong><br />
existing programs, achieving corporate objectives, <strong>and</strong> implementing corporate<br />
strategies that position <strong>Boeing</strong>’s defence activities in <strong>Australia</strong> for continued success.<br />
Prior to being named to his current position, <strong>Gillis</strong> was <strong>Boeing</strong> Defence<br />
<strong>Australia</strong>’s chief operating officer. In this role, he was responsible for the organisation’s<br />
day-to-day operations; alignment <strong>and</strong> integration with <strong>Boeing</strong> Defense, Space &<br />
Security (BDS); <strong>and</strong> compliance <strong>and</strong> governance. He was appointed to this position in<br />
March 2011.<br />
<strong>Gillis</strong> joined <strong>Boeing</strong> in September 2010 as chief operating officer of International<br />
Operations <strong>and</strong> Compliance for BDS.<br />
Prior to <strong>Boeing</strong>, <strong>Gillis</strong> was general manager systems for the <strong>Australia</strong>n Defence<br />
Materiel Organisation (DMO) <strong>and</strong> was responsible for a staff of 6,000 with an annual<br />
expenditure budget of AU$7 billion. In this role, he led the reform agenda for DMO<br />
acquisition <strong>and</strong> sustainment in an environment of significant change as a result of major<br />
Defence-wide reforms. As a senior program manager he successfully managed <strong>and</strong>
executed multibillion-dollar projects involving integrated teams of professionals in<br />
<strong>Australia</strong> <strong>and</strong> overseas.<br />
Prior to this role, <strong>Gillis</strong> was <strong>vice</strong> <strong>president</strong> for Military Projects for the Austal<br />
Group, where he was the capture team lead <strong>and</strong> project manager for the U.S. Navy<br />
Littoral Combat Ship, the Joint High Speed Vessel program, <strong>and</strong> the Royal <strong>Australia</strong>n<br />
Navy Armidale Class patrol boat fleet.<br />
<strong>Gillis</strong> holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration with a major in<br />
legal studies from University of Canberra. He is a qualified Master Project Director<br />
(AIPM) <strong>and</strong> a Master Mariner. <strong>Gillis</strong> also is the founder <strong>and</strong> sponsor of Queensl<strong>and</strong><br />
University of Technology Executive Masters in Complex Project Management Program<br />
<strong>and</strong> International Centre for Complex Project Management.<br />
