Hammam an Excellent Way <strong>of</strong> Disease Prevention and Cure with<br />
Special Reference to Kulliate Nafeesi<br />
ing into <strong>the</strong>m, <strong>for</strong> dropsy, <strong>for</strong> swelling left after disease,<br />
and <strong>for</strong> collection, <strong>of</strong> phlegm, <strong>for</strong> pain in joints.<br />
• Use <strong>of</strong> decoction <strong>of</strong> Prunus laurocerasus (Habbul Ghar)<br />
has demulcent & emollient effects.<br />
• Alum water benefits cases <strong>of</strong> haemoptysis, melaena,<br />
menorragia, procidentia ani or uteri, undue sweating,<br />
because <strong>the</strong>y have cooling and drying effect.<br />
• To gain weight, <strong>the</strong> bath taken after meal may help, but<br />
this bath may predispose to obstruction.<br />
• Those desirous <strong>of</strong> taking a bath <strong>for</strong> its moistening effect,<br />
<strong>for</strong> example phthisis should continue <strong>the</strong> both as<br />
long as <strong>the</strong>re is no debility. In order to prevent <strong>the</strong> loss<br />
<strong>of</strong> moisture observed in <strong>the</strong> body, <strong>the</strong> bath should be<br />
followed by massage with some suitable oil so as to gain<br />
more moisture &to hold what has been observed.<br />
Precautions<br />
1. The better should enter <strong>the</strong> hot room (third room) <strong>of</strong><br />
hammam gradually from Masalakh and similarly leave<br />
<strong>the</strong> hammam.<br />
2. Long stay in <strong>the</strong> hot room <strong>of</strong> Hammam can cause unconsciousness,<br />
restlessness, palpitation and syncope.<br />
3. The person should enter <strong>the</strong> Hammam be<strong>for</strong>e meal and<br />
after exercise.<br />
4. Healthy person just <strong>for</strong> prevention <strong>of</strong> health should go<br />
to Hammam after three house <strong>of</strong> meal.<br />
Conclusion<br />
This method is implementing since thousands <strong>of</strong> years<br />
<strong>for</strong> prevention and cure <strong>of</strong> many diseases. Now a days <strong>the</strong>re<br />
are very few colleges practising Hammam, <strong>the</strong>re<strong>for</strong>e it is<br />
advised to construct Hammam in every Unani hospital, If<br />
it is private or government institute. It is <strong>the</strong> need <strong>of</strong> time<br />
to apply <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>rapeutics effect <strong>of</strong> Hammam and scientific<br />
validation can be done. The protocol <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> construction<br />
<strong>of</strong> Hammam should be prepared according to <strong>the</strong> suggestion<br />
<strong>of</strong> Unanni scholars.<br />
