Winter and Spring 2012<br />
This unique new offering will guide seekers wishing<br />
to penetrate more deeply into the esoteric core of<br />
anthroposophy. Classes are open to individuals familiar<br />
with <strong>Rudolf</strong> <strong>Steiner</strong>’s basic work who seek to further<br />
explore key themes. Participants engage in study<br />
and research, inner work, artistic creativity, seminar<br />
conversation, and practical activity. 3-week blocks, 3½<br />
days per week, Mondays–Wednesdays 9:40am-3:20pm,<br />
and Thursdays 9:40am-12:35pm. Dormitory housing is<br />
available on campus. Pre-registration is required.<br />
Brian Gray, MLArch, Foundation Program<br />
Director, teaches and lectures on anthroposophical<br />
topics for <strong>Rudolf</strong> <strong>Steiner</strong> <strong>College</strong> programs in Fair<br />
Oaks and San Francisco. A teacher at <strong>Rudolf</strong> <strong>Steiner</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong> since 1981, Brian’s research includes<br />
the realms of Star Wisdom, Cosmology, Sacred<br />
Architecture, and Esoteric Christianity. Brian earned a Masters<br />
in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in<br />
1972, and a certificate in Waldorf Teacher Education from <strong>Rudolf</strong><br />
<strong>Steiner</strong> <strong>College</strong> in 1981.<br />

Evolution<br />
Six presentations with Brian Gray and Cynthia Hoven<br />
Explore <strong>Rudolf</strong> <strong>Steiner</strong>’s insights into the evolution<br />
of our cosmos, the human being, and the kingdoms<br />
of nature through the cooperative creative activity of<br />
spiritual beings. Presentations include lecture sessions,<br />
board drawings, conversation, eurythmy, and sketching.<br />
Thursdays 1:30-3:20pm. Registration required by<br />

Cosmos, Earth, and Human Evolution /<br />
Drawing the Seven Planetary Seals<br />
with Brian Gray<br />
Explore stages of planetary and human evolution<br />
from Ancient Saturn, Ancient Sun, Ancient Moon, to<br />
present Earth, and on toward Future Jupiter, Venus,<br />
and Vulcan. Draw <strong>Rudolf</strong> <strong>Steiner</strong>’s seven planetary<br />
seals to enliven understanding.<br />

Esoteric Christianity and Inner<br />
Realities of Evolution / Veil Painting<br />
with Brian Gray and Ted Mahle<br />
Contemplate mysteries of Christ’s deeds in relation to<br />
human beings, the spiritual hierarchies, the Earth and<br />
kingdoms of nature and cosmic evolution. Veil painting<br />
awakens deeper insights through the experience of<br />
layering transparent colors.<br />

As we travel the pathways from story and mythology<br />
into history, the continual changes in human<br />
consciousness underlying historical evolution clearly<br />
emerge. Explore manifestations of cultures expressed<br />
through history and sacred architecture.<br />

Spiritual Streams and Sun Initiates /<br />
Star Wisdom<br />
with Brian Gray<br />
<strong>Rudolf</strong> <strong>Steiner</strong> characterizes different spiritual streams<br />
connected with the seven visible planets. Explore roles<br />
of four groups within the Sun stream and their leading<br />
initiates, and mysteries of star wisdom—astronomy,<br />
astrology, and astrosophy.<br />

Karma and Reincarnation /<br />
Projective Geometry and Eurythmy<br />
with Brian Gray, Ronald Koetzsch, and Cynthia Hoven<br />
<strong>Rudolf</strong> <strong>Steiner</strong>’s profound insights into reincarnation<br />
and karma will enrich our understanding of biography,<br />
human relationships, and the meaning and purpose of<br />
life. Eurythmy and projective geometry will balance<br />
and expand our experiences.<br />
