Workshop Series

Winter and Spring 2012
This unique new offering will guide seekers wishing
to penetrate more deeply into the esoteric core of
anthroposophy. Classes are open to individuals familiar
with Rudolf Steiner’s basic work who seek to further
explore key themes. Participants engage in study
and research, inner work, artistic creativity, seminar
conversation, and practical activity. 3-week blocks, 3½
days per week, Mondays–Wednesdays 9:40am-3:20pm,
and Thursdays 9:40am-12:35pm. Dormitory housing is
available on campus. Pre-registration is required.
Brian Gray, MLArch, Foundation Program
Director, teaches and lectures on anthroposophical
topics for Rudolf Steiner College programs in Fair
Oaks and San Francisco. A teacher at Rudolf Steiner
College since 1981, Brian’s research includes
the realms of Star Wisdom, Cosmology, Sacred
Architecture, and Esoteric Christianity. Brian earned a Masters
in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in
1972, and a certificate in Waldorf Teacher Education from Rudolf
Steiner College in 1981.

Cosmology—Cosmic and Human
Evolution
Six presentations with Brian Gray and Cynthia Hoven
Explore Rudolf Steiner’s insights into the evolution
of our cosmos, the human being, and the kingdoms
of nature through the cooperative creative activity of
spiritual beings. Presentations include lecture sessions,
board drawings, conversation, eurythmy, and sketching.
Thursdays 1:30-3:20pm. Registration required by
January 9. General: $90, Stu/Sen: $72. Minimum of 6

Three-Week Intensives
January 9 – January 26, 2012
Cosmos, Earth, and Human Evolution /
Drawing the Seven Planetary Seals
with Brian Gray
Explore stages of planetary and human evolution
from Ancient Saturn, Ancient Sun, Ancient Moon, to
present Earth, and on toward Future Jupiter, Venus,
and Vulcan. Draw Rudolf Steiner’s seven planetary
seals to enliven understanding.
Mondays–Wednesdays 9:45am-3:20pm and Thursdays

January 30 – February 16, 2012
Esoteric Christianity and Inner
Realities of Evolution / Veil Painting
with Brian Gray and Ted Mahle
Contemplate mysteries of Christ’s deeds in relation to
human beings, the spiritual hierarchies, the Earth and
kingdoms of nature and cosmic evolution. Veil painting
awakens deeper insights through the experience of
layering transparent colors.

The Evolution of Consciousness as a
Basis for History / Sacred Architecture
with Betty Staley, Astrid Schmitt-Stegmann,
Patrick Wakeford-Evans, and Brian Gray
As we travel the pathways from story and mythology
into history, the continual changes in human
consciousness underlying historical evolution clearly
emerge. Explore manifestations of cultures expressed
through history and sacred architecture.

March 19 – March 29, 2012
Spiritual Streams and Sun Initiates /
Star Wisdom
with Brian Gray
Rudolf Steiner characterizes different spiritual streams
connected with the seven visible planets. Explore roles
of four groups within the Sun stream and their leading
initiates, and mysteries of star wisdom—astronomy,
astrology, and astrosophy.

Karma and Reincarnation /
Projective Geometry and Eurythmy
with Brian Gray, Ronald Koetzsch, and Cynthia Hoven
Rudolf Steiner’s profound insights into reincarnation
and karma will enrich our understanding of biography,
human relationships, and the meaning and purpose of
life. Eurythmy and projective geometry will balance
and expand our experiences.
