ctually, it’s called EOS, the first carbon neutral perfume containing
oils and carbon neutral aroma chemicals, using beer waste from
the Fremont Brewery in Seattle, Washington. Named for the Greek goddess
of the dawn, EOS is the “dawn” of petro-chemical free perfumes and
cosmetics.
The environmentally friendly perfume is a collaborative effort between
Blue Marble Biomaterials (a renewable biochemical manufacturer)
and Seattle perfumery, Sweet Anthem. Although made from certified
organic brewery grain, the fragrance smells nothing like
beer. Rather, it is a bright, golden floral toned scent, evocative of
Eos herself, sweetened with apricot and ginger lily that dries to
an elegant cognac oil. This interesting fragrance is available for

a collaborative beer with world-renown brewer, Dirk Naudts
of De Proef Brouwerij, to be unveiled during Philly Beer Week
2011.

In February, 2011, Naudts and the winning duo will work
together to brew a special beer for Philly’s favorite 10 day beer
celebration that will occur from June 3rd through the 12th this
year. The beer will also be a part of De Proef’s ongoing Brewmaster’s
Collection series.
On November 17th at McGillan’s Olde Ale House, among a
packed house, the winners were chosen. More than 1,000
ballots were sold and $5,000 was raised for Philly Beer Week.

beer drinking city,” says Don Russell (Joe Sixpack), in a recent
