Very High Gears<br />

Because the recumbent rolls at a higher speed<br />

with comparable effort, exceptionally high gear<br />

ratios are employed. It has a five speed set of<br />

conventional derailleur gears utiliz<strong>in</strong>g a cha<strong>in</strong><br />

wheel with 60 teeth. Several gear ratio choices<br />

with over 100 are available. The gear shift<strong>in</strong>g<br />

lever is at the center of the handlebar. Eight<br />

ounce rims, silk tires alum<strong>in</strong>um parts wherever<br />

possible, and egg shell th<strong>in</strong> tub<strong>in</strong>g are many of<br />

the ref<strong>in</strong>ements that make the bike a very lively<br />

and responsive mach<strong>in</strong>e. The gross weight is<br />

with<strong>in</strong> a few pounds of the conventional rac<strong>in</strong>g<br />

bike.<br />
