several decades of experience <strong>in</strong> the <strong>development</strong> of <strong>geothermal</strong> energy <strong>and</strong> hydropower,<br />
spann<strong>in</strong>g a wide range of application <strong>and</strong> conditions. The shareholders are<br />
Reykjavik Energy, Sudurnes Regional Heat<strong>in</strong>g, Icel<strong>and</strong> Drill<strong>in</strong>g Company, National<br />
Power Company, New Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Venture Fund, Icel<strong>and</strong> GeoSurvey, Akureyri Municipal<br />
Water <strong>and</strong> Power Company, <strong>and</strong> Virkir Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g Group. Members of the owner<br />
group have pioneered the comprehensive <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>tegrated utilization of <strong>geothermal</strong><br />
energy, both <strong>in</strong>ternationally <strong>and</strong> domestically. Enex offers novel solutions applicable<br />
to <strong>geothermal</strong> resources of diverse types <strong>and</strong> properties, <strong>and</strong> hydropower resources<br />
where harsh weather conditions <strong>and</strong> nature prevail. It has affiliates <strong>in</strong> the United<br />
States, Germany <strong>and</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a. Dur<strong>in</strong>g the 35 years of operation, Enex has participated<br />

• Budapest, Hungary (Fötáv), replac<strong>in</strong>g fossil fuel with <strong>geothermal</strong> heat<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

5.6 Export of Know-how<br />
It is a moral obligation of the world’s nations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.<br />
Increased use of renewable energy could play a key role <strong>in</strong> this respect. Icel<strong>and</strong> is a<br />
world leader <strong>in</strong> terms of the share of renewable resources. Icel<strong>and</strong> is will<strong>in</strong>g to share<br />
its experience with other nations, as can be seen from its <strong>development</strong> assistance<br />
<strong>in</strong> this field. In addition, several Icel<strong>and</strong>ic companies export <strong>geothermal</strong> <strong>and</strong> hydropower<br />
