Corporate Citizen of the Year – Bonnie Hamilton 

Sponsored by RBC Financial Group - ‘Natural leadership abilities’ and ‘an excellent role model for anyone 

in business,’ says her nominator. Involvement in business organizations includes local and provincial 

commitments to further the tourism sector. A lead role was taken in raising over $200,000 for the Morton 

Community Healthcare Centre. As co-owner of two successful businesses, she has greatly contributed to the 

economic health of the community. Volunteer commitments include a challenging placement for five weeks 

in the Olympic Athletes Village at Whistler.

past glory and has provided Apsley with a beautiful gift store brimming with unique clothing, games,

administration into the skin layers, leaving nerve junctions undisturbed and avoiding the sensation of

Environmental – Swish Maintenance 

Sponsored by MASS Environmental Services Inc. - 86 third-party, eco-certified chemical sanitation 

products have been developed. Their Peterborough facility includes a solar wall to reduce energy 

consumption, a lighting retrofit, high efficiency boilers and air tightness changes to the shipping dock and 

pedestrian doors. Resource efficient e-learning training is used and they support environmental research in 

Ontario provincial parks. 

Outstanding Business Achievement – Lori Neill, Lead the Way 

Sponsored by County of Peterborough - They’ve grown from a sole physiotherapist practice to providing 

multidisciplinary health services in six locations in the Kawarthas and community/home-based services to all 

of east central Ontario, with a compliment of over 60 professional and support staff. They are recognized 

leaders of innovation in service delivery and programs. Accredited conformance to over 700 standards. 

Retailer of the Year – McLean Berry Farm 

Sponsored by Nexicom Inc. (Presented in memory of Brian Holmes, Lockside Trading.) - Sales have 

increased between 10-40% each year for twenty years. They offer high quality, fresh and local produce 

paired with friendly, knowledgeable staff. A front lawn kiosk and attendance at one farmers’ market has 

grown to two retail outlets, three farmers’ markets, pick-your-own, wholesale vendors and farm festivals 

with 45 employees in peak season. 

Tourism/Hospitality – Warsaw Caves Conservation Area & Campground 

Sponsored by Peterborough Community Futures Development Corp. - 20,000 local, regional and 

international visitors are attracted annually. A diverse range of outdoor recreation opportunities are 

provided upon an ancient geological landscape including caves, kettles, rockmills, a disappearing river, 

damselfly pond and scenic lookout. A new, energy-efficient, fully accessible comfort station encourages 

campers to extend their stay and explore the region.

contributed over 72 years of service to the community. Contributions have included everything from 

tossing candy to children from a Santa Claus parade float to coaching hockey to working in the kitchen at 

various events to executive and regional level leadership positions. Together they work tirelessly for the 

Royal Canadian Legion, Lakefield Branch to remember and honour local veterans.
