Point 3:<br />

A clear process for making meaningful<br />

judgements must be part <strong>of</strong> each tool or<br />

process.<br />

<strong>The</strong> RTO must be able to explain how a LLN<br />

assessment tool or process is delivered to <strong>the</strong><br />

learner and used to determine if fur<strong>the</strong>r investigation<br />

is necessary. Where a single LLN indicator tool is<br />

used for learners enrolling in a range <strong>of</strong> vocational<br />

courses, it must be clear how a trainer determines<br />

when fur<strong>the</strong>r investigation is required for learners in<br />

<strong>the</strong> different vocational qualifications.<br />

General indicator tools could be administered by<br />

teachers / trainers on advice from LLN specialists.<br />

Point 4:<br />

Processes for obtaining a full assessment<br />

and additional LLN support must be<br />

related to <strong>the</strong> vocational training.<br />

Each RTO must have a clear process for obtaining<br />

a full LLN assessment when this need is indicated.<br />

It must also have well established contacts<br />

through which additional support may be sought<br />

and delivered. All LLN assessments and support<br />

must be conducted / delivered by appropriately<br />

qualified staff. Additional LLN support should be<br />

integrated into <strong>the</strong> vocational training <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> learner<br />

through collaboration between LLN specialists and<br />

vocational trainers.<br />

Be prepared to answer <strong>the</strong>se questions:<br />

• What are <strong>the</strong> LLN tasks and skills that relate to<br />

your vocational area<br />

• How do those skills and tasks inform your LLN<br />

indicator tool<br />

• What constitutes a problem / need for fur<strong>the</strong>r<br />

investigation<br />

• What is <strong>the</strong> process for fur<strong>the</strong>r investigation<br />

• What is <strong>the</strong> process for addressing <strong>the</strong> additional<br />

LLN needs <strong>of</strong> a learner when required<br />
