Sampo Rosenlew Ltd<br />

Sampo Rosenlew Ltd has a long tradition of the manufacture of farm and <strong>forest</strong> machinery.<br />

Wheel-mounted machinery has been manufactured since 1957. The company is well known<br />

for its high-quality, cost-efficient products. Serial production of <strong>forest</strong> <strong>harvesters</strong> started in<br />

1997. Harvester design was started from scratch. From the very beginning the Sampo Rosenlew<br />

harvester was designed to be ideally suited for <strong>forest</strong> thinning.<br />

Most of the components used in the base machine are manufactured by Sampo Rosenlew. The<br />

hydraulic motors and rotors are supplied by Sampo Hydraulics Ltd.

Enjoy the comfort! Sitting in the cab of the Sampo Rosenlew <strong>forest</strong> harvester<br />

makes the operator feel like the king of the <strong>forest</strong>. The cab is placed on the<br />

front frame, far from the hydraulic pumps and the engine. The curved windscreen<br />

and the high cab provide unhindered all-round visibility round the machine and<br />

over the trees. The controls are ergonomically within easy reach of the operator.<br />

Good View over the Trees<br />

The large window area guarantees unobstructed visibility round the<br />

harvester and over the treetops. This enables efficient working and<br />

selection of the right trees. In <strong>forest</strong> thinning unhindered visibility is of<br />

the utmost importance.<br />

The pre-heating system and solar curtains will further improve operator<br />

comfort. Improved driver comfort results in increased work efficiency<br />

and reduced fuel consumption.<br />

A <strong>forest</strong> thinning machine works in young and dense <strong>forest</strong>s. The most essential aspect in the design<br />

of the Sampo Rosenlew <strong>forest</strong> harvester was its suitability for thinning. The four-wheeled harvester<br />

with articulated steering is extremely nimble. The joint, short wheelbase and wide steering angle<br />

enable an amazingly small turning radius and provide excellent agility. Efficient hydraulic traction<br />

motors and a self-supporting joint ensure unrivalled mobility over most demanding terrain.<br />

Gentle-touch Forestry<br />

The small dimensions of the SR 1046 pro guarantee that the harvester is agile and<br />

eco-friendly and thus well suited for first thinning of <strong>forest</strong>s. A lightweight harvester<br />

does not harm the roots of the remaining stand of <strong>forest</strong> as heavy <strong>harvesters</strong> do.<br />

The measurements such as the weight and track width of the harvester are large<br />

enough to ensure stability of the base machine in <strong>forest</strong> thinning. The large contact<br />

surface of the tires reduces the load on the ground. It is essential for <strong>forest</strong> productivity<br />

that the remaining stand of <strong>forest</strong> stays healthy and undamaged.<br />

Flexible Forest Harvesting<br />

Crane handling on the Sampo Rosenlew harvester is superb in thinning <strong>forest</strong>s. The<br />

side-tilting crane can reach trees further away than a fixed crane. The side tilt can<br />

be equipped with an automatic side tilt stabilizer system.<br />

Engine<br />

The SR 1046 pro <strong>forest</strong> harvester has a four-cylinder Agco Sisu Power<br />

44 CTA diesel engine with the Common Rail joint pressure injection<br />

system. The engines meet the latest emission control requirements.<br />

The engine torque is highest at regular working revolutions. The<br />

engine´s fuel efficiency is unrivalled. Long service intervals and easy<br />

serviceability increase efficiency. The engine is quiet and vibration<br />

free. Diesel idling as well as working and maximum revolutions are<br />

quick to select using the rocker switch.<br />

Transmission<br />

The pump in traction hydraulics produces oil pressure for the traction<br />

motors. Each rear wheel has its own motor. The flow divider valve<br />

distributes oil pressure between the rear and the front. Motive power<br />

to the front wheels is transmitted through the reduction gears from<br />

the gearbox driven by a hydraulic motor. Ground speed depends on<br />

the speed range, engine revolutions and the drive pedal position.<br />

Harvesting Computer<br />

The harvesting computer measures the wood and controls the harvester head functions.<br />

It calculates the volume of wood harvested, divided according to tree species<br />

and assortments. All the working data is stored in the computer´s memory and can be<br />

printed out and forwarded wirelessly. The harvesting computer is used to adjust the<br />

harvester head pressures.<br />

Electric sensors monitor the length and thickness of the tree being harvested. Based<br />

on the sensor data, the harvesting computer calculates the volume of wood. The harvesting<br />

computer consists of modules. Wood volume calculation can be monitored on<br />

the display module in the cab. The head module collects data on the harvester head<br />

functions. The modules are connected together with a CAN route.<br />

Control System<br />

The IQAN system adjusts and programs hydraulic harvester functions such as the<br />

crane movement speeds. It has a data connection to the diesel engine, transmission<br />

and harvesting computer. The IQAN functions can be programmed by means<br />

of a graphic display. The colour display contains all the data shown on a conventional<br />

instrument panel. Error messages from the diesel and the base machine are shown on<br />

the display in simple language.<br />
