<strong>General</strong> Visiting Student Program<br />

Program introduction<br />

An overseas student wishing to study at Peking University for<br />

up to a year but not for a degree may be admitted as a <strong>General</strong><br />

Visiting Student. Candidates must have completed at least one<br />

year of undergraduate study at their own university. If your<br />

Chinese proficiency does not meet the required standard of<br />

your target course of study, you are suggested to study Chinese<br />

in the International College for Chinese Language Studies for<br />

one or two semesters before entering the department.<br />

Application prerequisites: Applicants must be non-<br />

Chinese citizens with a valid passport, above the age of 18<br />

and under the age of 45, have completed at least one year of<br />

undergraduate study at their own university.<br />

Application Process:<br />

1. On-Line registration.<br />

1.1. Please register your details on http://isao.pku.edu.cn/ooirr<br />

. Please fill in the application form and submit and also print a<br />

hardcopy for reference.<br />

2. Submit Application Materials.<br />

2.1. After completing the Peking University Application Form<br />

for International Students on-line please print and attach a<br />

passport-style photograph.<br />

2.2. Certification of highest degree attained, and official<br />

academic transcripts (original documents or Certified copies in<br />

Chinese or English).<br />

2.3. Two letters of reference from your referees. The referees<br />

should be professors or persons with relevant academic title.<br />

The recommendation letter must be the original document,<br />

either in Chinese or English, and not a copy, scan or email.<br />

2.4. Certificate of Chinese proficiency level e.g. HSK (If<br />

applicable).<br />

2.5. One photocopy of your current, valid passport (personal<br />

details page) (passport type must be ordinary).<br />

Note: Your applications documents will not be returned.<br />

When to apply: Application window is March 8 -31, 2010.<br />

Application fee: 400RMB in cash or Yinlian bank card.<br />

Foreign currency or check is not acceptable. This fee is nonrefundable.<br />

Note: Applications with incomplete materials or without the<br />

application fee will not be considered.<br />

Admission: Admission will be determined according to<br />

your educational background and the academic achievement.<br />

Upon acceptance, the University will send you the 'Letter of<br />

Admission' as well as the 'Visa application form for Foreigners<br />

(Form JW202)' by the end of June 2010.<br />

Registration Period: September 2010 (specified in the<br />

Letter of Admission)<br />
