Members on the Move
The law firm of Gallivan, White & Boyd, P.A., is
pleased to announce the selection of H. Mills Gallivan
and W. Howard Boyd, Jr., as “Lawyers of the
Year” in their respective practice areas by Best Lawyers.
Only a single lawyer in each practice area in
each community is honored as the “Lawyer of the
Year.” Mr. Gallivan was selected as 2013 Greenville
Workers’ Compensation Law—Employers “Lawyer
of the Year.” He has 36 years of experience as a
civil defense trial attorney, mediator, and arbitrator.
Mr. Gallivan is a past president of both the National
Foundation for Judicial Excellence and the South
Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association, and
served as commissioner for the City of Greenville
Planning Commission. Mr. Boyd was named 2013
Greenville Product Liability Litigation—Defendants
“Lawyer of the Year.” He has 35 years of experience
successfully managing complex litigation for the
firm’s clients and is perennially listed in Best Lawyers
in America and in South Carolina Super Lawyers.
Paul M. Lavelle, chair of the DRI Law Institute, is
now the managing shareholder of Winstead PC’s new
office in New Orleans. Shareholder Richard “Rick”
Simses and of counsel Charles Miers and Jon Vicklund
are working now in Winstead’s office in The
Woodlands, Texas. All four lawyers handle energy,
environmental, product liability, commercial litigation,
insurance coverage and admiralty law. Tom
Hutcheson, chair of Winstead’s energy and environmental
law practice, says the group is a plus for the
firm because Winstead has a number of clients who
regularly do business in Louisiana or offshore Louisiana,
and many Texas clients are involved in litigation
in Louisiana.
Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada PLLC
(Butler Snow) attorney W. Neal McBrayer is a contributing
author for the book Inside the Minds:
Chapter 15 Bankruptcy Strategies. Mr. McBrayer is a
member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Group
and Banking, Real Estate and Financial Services
Group. He focuses his practice on bankruptcy, reorganization
and creditors’ rights, financial services
and transportation and logistics. “We are very
proud of the hard work that has resulted in Neal’s
inclusion in this book,” said Donald Clark, Jr., chair,
Butler Snow. “His comprehension of the legalities
associated with cross- border insolvencies is an asset
to our firm, his practice group and certainly his clients.”
Mr. McBrayer’s chapter in this book addresses
U.S. recognition of foreign insolvency proceedings
and seeking relief pending recognition.
Reminger Co. LPA is pleased to announce that
Suzanne Belot Norton of the firm’s Toledo, Ohio,
office has recently been appointed Interim Law
Director for the City of Maumee Law Department. A
Workers’ Compensation Practice Group leader with
Reminger, Ms. Norton is also workers’ compensation
counsel for the City of Maumee. She has served as an
assistant law director for the City of Maumee since
2004. Licensed in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania,
Ms. Norton’s practice includes workers’ compensation
defense for self- insured and state-funded
employers, and representation of public employers
and businesses in various aspects of municipal, governmental
and employment practices law. “We are
very proud of Suzanne’s…contributions thus far to
the City of Maumee,” remarked Reminger Managing
Partner Stephen E. Walters.
Kurtis B. Reeg, president and managing partner
of Reeg Lawyers LLC, a corporate litigation
defense law firm headquartered in St. Louis, has been
appointed to the arbitration and mediation panels
at United States Arbitration & Mediation Midwest,
Inc., the largest mediation and arbitration provider
in the Midwest.
