Centre for Plant & Water Science 2008 Annual Report The Centre’s RIBG allocation was used towards the purchase of new equipment and the maintenance of old, and in support of technical staff who maintain the infrastructure base (Table 11). Of RIBG funds, 39% was allocated to salary, 16% to equipment and consumables, and 45% for 2008/09 Compound upgrade. Table 11. Centre for Plant & Water Science 2008 Annual Report Draft budget for 2009 For the coming year, the IGS – CQU allocation is $207,000, 75.7% of that in 2008. The draft budget (Table 12) accommodates this. Funding for the staff discretionary scheme is expanded to reflect the training requirements of the increased number of research staff in the Centre. We anticipate a further reduction in funds for 2010, hence we plan a sizeable carry forward amount. Table 12. This is a 37% decrease of the RIBG of 2008, due to our poorer performance in gaining competitive funding compared to the rest of the university research centres.
