Kartik Venkatraman travelled to Perth from 5 to 10 July to attend a conference on Technologies &
Strategic Management of Sustainable Bio-systems.
Kerry Walsh, Phul Subedi & Ria Reyes attended the 13th ANISG Conference & Short Course held
in Hamilton, Victoria from 8 to 11 April.
David Midmore travelled to the Philippines to participate in the USAID SANREM project review
from 20 to 27 May.
Nanjappa Ashwath attended a Bio-fuel Conference & visited RIRDC in Canberra from 10 to 12
June.
Karuna Shrestha gave a poster presentation at the ISFAR and IFOAM Conference in Italy from 16
to 20 June.
David Midmore travelled to the Brisbane to visit UQ & the Gold Coast and attend as an invited
speaker the National and Trans-Tasman Horticultural Science Conference from 19 to 24 July
2009.
Kerry Walsh was also an invited speaker, and Phul Subedi presented, and Surya Bhattarai, Ria
Reyes, Karuna Shrestha, Manouchehr Torabi & Jay Dhungel attended the National and Trans-
Tasman Horticultural Science Conference held at the Gold Coast from 20 to 23 July.
Jay Dhungel travelled to the Gold Coast from 11 to 15 August and attended & presented at the 14th
Australian Cotton Conference.
Noel Sammon and Prof Rob Reed attended the 12th International Symposium on Microbial
Ecology (ISM-12) held in Cairns from 16 to 23 August 2008.
David Midmore attended the AAB Conference “Resource Capture by Crops” at Nottingham
University, UK from 10 to 12 September and presented a paper.
Ben Kele was an invited Keynote Speaker at the Onsite and Decentralised Sewage Conference –
Coming Clean: Sustainable Backyards and Beyond, in Benalla, Victoria from 12 to 15 October.
Jay Dhungel travelled to Narrabri to attend the Cotton Catchment Communities CRC Annual
Science Forum from 13 to 17 October 2008.
Amanda Twomey attended and presented at the Bioenergy Conference held in Melbourne from 8
to 9 November
Dixie Nott attended and presented at the 33rd ESA Annual conference held in Sydney from 29
November to 6 December.

N. Ashwath attend A-ACAP project planting at Townsville from 11 to 14 February.
Surya Bhattarai travelled to AVRDC, Taiwan and presented a paper on “Genetics, physiological
and molecular approaches to improve heat and drought tolerance in tomatoes”, from 23 to 29
February.
Keith Harrower & Rebecca Jolley travelled to Launceston, Tasmania from 24 to 27 February 2009
to attend several meeting at various farms and wasabi meetings.
David Midmore, Laurie Tait & Brock McDonald travelled to Brisbane from 24 to 27 February and
visited Riverdell, Vermicrobe & Green Roof Australia for hydroponics discussions.
Ben Kele was resource person for South Australian Environmental Training Day at Mission Beach,
4 April.
Jay Dhungel, Laurie Tait & Manouchehr Torabi travelled to Brisbane from 13 to 16 April to attend
Instrumentation Training at QUT.
Karuna Shrestha travelled to Moura from 10 to 11 April to attend an on-farm Compost Tea
Workshop at Shingle Hut.
