MESSAGE FROM THE CONVENORS & AGES PRESIDENT
Dear Colleagues,
We warmly invite you to join us at the XVth Annual Scientific Meeting of AGES
in Perth.
Perth, Australia’s sunniest city, with spectacular beaches overlooking the Indian
Ocean, and beautiful open CBD set around the spectacular Swan River, is always
a delightful place to visit. The close proximity of the Margaret River vineyards
and the profusion of wonderful restaurants are other reasons to make the
journey. They are, however, only the backdrop to what we hope will be a meeting
you cannot afford to miss.
The meeting will be special for a number of reasons. The theme of the scientific
meeting is The Art and Science of Gynaecological Endoscopy. We consider that
Pelvic Anatomy, Hysterectomy, Endometriosis and Surgical Training are among
the most important aspects of contemporary gynaecological surgery. The art of
surgery with its emphasis on skill and technique remains paramount and we
have invited some of the world’s best laparoscopic surgeons to give detailed
presentations on the details of their techniques in these areas. Surgical skill and
individual opinion is however no longer sufficient to change practice and solid
scientific analysis of good techniques is also now required. We will therefore
have, in the same sessions, reviews of the current scientific evaluation of surgical
effectiveness of these procedures.
Inclusive in the scientific meeting program will be a day of live surgery when
some of the techniques to be discussed will be demonstrated.
Perth has some of the finest surgical training facilities in the world. To
complement this amazing resource we have invited some great laparoscopic
trainers from Australia and around the world to provide the faculty for a
workshop that will be the largest and most ambitious ever held by AGES.
Numbers to this remarkable workshop will be strictly limited and as we hope to
ensure that it is recognised for PR & CRM Points we anticipate that demand will
be great. The workshop is specifically aimed at those who already have some
laparoscopic operative skills but have got stuck and wish to move forward.
We hope to be joined at the meeting by some members of the British Society of
Gynaecological Endoscopy. We think the influx of Brits should add to the colour
and variety of the meeting and should certainly add an edge to the post
conference sporting activities.
Gynaecological endoscopic surgery has come a long way since the first AGES
meeting. At the 15th annual meeting we plan to honour the founder, hear from
the some of the pioneers who changed the way in which we practice and
observe some of the talented younger surgeons who are taking us all to the next
level. Please join us for this new stage of this exciting journey.
Delegates attending
this conference will
be awarded
• PR & CRM points
• CPD Meeting points
“Strykers Endosuite Operating
efficiently and ergonomically
than the traditional cart system. The
Endosuite Operating Rooms offer
opportunities for significantly
improving both procedure and
Stryker Corporation makes the
Endosuite operating theatre the ideal
environment to perform endoscopic
surgery. It provides clear lines of sight
for communication amongst the
operating team, and the uncluttered
floor space eliminates unnecessary
movement. Voice activated equipment
and external live video links to other
specialists mean the operating team
can concentrate on the patient.
This new innovative operating suite is
now available in St Leonards, Sydney,
close to Royal North Shore Hospital
“We can teach, educate and train on a
world-wide basis out of this
facility. We can link into any hospitals
that have a Stryker’s Endosuite .”
