Guide to Good Worktops<br />
Our selection of worktops have undergone full testing in the FIRA laboratories in accordance with British Standards,<br />
European Standards and FIRA standards and have been evaluated for aspects including workmanship, finish<br />
performance, adhesion performance, environmental response and substrate performance. We are pleased to announce<br />
that this range of Worktops for Domestic Kitchens satisfies the relevant requirements for the FIRA GOLD AWARD.<br />
Unique seal designed to ensure a lifetime of protection against moisture and steam with a profile designed to prevent<br />
liquid spills finding their way into drawers and cupboards. Surfaces are made from genuine high pressure laminate<br />
guaranteed to BS/EN 438; hardwearing and easy to clean. Moisture and heat resistant to BS/EN 204. Melamine resin is<br />
the hardest of all synthetic produced organic materials. This is the reason for the high scratch and wear resistance of<br />
HPL (High Pressure Laminate) The high impact resistance of HPL to chemicals and heat. Burning a cigarette on the<br />
surface of HPL is one of the quality tests specified in BS/EN 438. However, the bottoms of saucepan's can become<br />
extremely hot and we recommend using a protective pad.<br />
The core of our Worktops are E1 grade high density particle board, comprising a mixture of resin and small wood chips, pressed to make a<br />
large sheet. A cut section will reveal layers, small particles form the outer surfaces and the core is made from larger chips. The structure gives<br />
strength, retains fittings, allows machining and has an excellent surface for adhesion to HPL. Particle board will not withstand the rigours of a<br />
kitchen top, so it is sealed all round to prevent moisture damage and give a durable surface.<br />

upstands<br />
Splashbacks and upstands are an attractive and practical solution to tiling<br />
making them an economic and cost effective alternative.<br />
You can choose upstands in matching colours to our Standard worktop<br />
selection.<br />
These are also available in Granite, Glass and stainless steel laminate.
