What is the difference between the Board <strong>of</strong> Pardons and <strong>Parole</strong>s and <strong>Parole</strong> Division<br />

The primary role <strong>of</strong> the board members and parole commissioners is the determ<strong>in</strong>ation <strong>of</strong><br />

which <strong>of</strong>fenders are to be released on parole or discretionary mandatory supervision and<br />

the revocation <strong>of</strong> parole or mandatory supervision <strong>of</strong>fenders for violations. Additionally,<br />

parole panels are responsible for determ<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the conditions <strong>of</strong> release and the imposition<br />

<strong>of</strong> any special conditions for parole or mandatory supervision <strong>of</strong>fenders.<br />

The primary role <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Parole</strong> Division is the supervision <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fenders released from the<br />

Correctional Institutions Division on parole or mandatory supervision. The division also<br />

supervises <strong>of</strong>fenders who are released from a county jail or another jurisdiction to <strong>Parole</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />

Absentia.<br />
