The <strong>Iz3</strong> is a 2-channel <strong>receiver</strong> that can be<br />
used to control many kinds of flying,<br />
swimming, or rolling objects. etc<br />
The <strong>receiver</strong> is 10x8mm and the weight is<br />
only 0.33grams. Two magnets make it<br />
Bahoma 5mm <strong>com</strong>patible. The thrust<br />
channel is unidirectionnal, <strong>com</strong>patible with a<br />
>4 Ohm propeller motor. The bidirectionnal<br />
channels can control a >30 Ohm motor or<br />
magnetic actuator. 1mm connectors can be<br />
used (see our connector kit)<br />
The third channel is not easy to control from<br />
the <strong>PicooZ</strong> controller. For a slow moving<br />
blimp, this channel is perfect for the vertical<br />
control.<br />
If you prefer a larger circuit, <strong>Didel</strong> has a<br />
<strong>com</strong>patible Ibz3 0.8 gram <strong>receiver</strong> that does<br />
not need ultra-fine tools<br />

What do you get with the IZ3<br />
The <strong>Iz3</strong> is a PCB with all its electronic<br />
<strong>com</strong>ponents, fully tested.<br />
Connect a 5mm Bahoma Lipo, the led blinks<br />
and stay on until you power the <strong>PicooZ</strong>.<br />
Channel selection is made at power-up.<br />
We provide a Bapi piece if you do not have a<br />
Bahoma Lipo, so you can do a test cable<br />
toward a 3 to 5V battery pack.<br />

We provide a bicolor LED to check the<br />
outputs. You get also five 1.25mm connectors.<br />
Use one male plug for soldering the test LED.<br />
You do not need to solder the female<br />
connectors on the <strong>receiver</strong> yet. One channel<br />
will be tested at a time, with the pins of the<br />
LED tester inclined in the metallized holes of<br />
the <strong>receiver</strong> outputs.<br />
Power both the <strong>receiver</strong> and transmitter (any<br />
order). Check with the bicolor LED, you get a<br />
signal that depends on the corresponding stick<br />
position. The LED intensity is not proportional<br />
to the current, but it gives a good idea.<br />

Limitations of the transmitter<br />
We have to live with the limitations of the <strong>PicooZ</strong> transmitter. Transmit and look at the<br />
test LED to fully understand the following. See http://www.didel.<strong>com</strong>/Ir/IrControl.pdf for<br />
details.<br />
The thrust stick is encoded as 15 values, 0 to14 assigned in a non linear way to 0-<br />
100% of PWM on the propeller transistor.<br />
The yaw stick is encoded as 7 values: you can have 3 turning radius right and 3 left,<br />
that’s all! The trim buttons controls a second PWM value by 1/4 th of one step. This<br />
can be useful for the vertical control of a blimp.<br />
Multiple transmitters<br />
If two or three transmitters have to be used simultaneously, they must have a<br />
different channels. Power a first transmitter (any channel) and the corresponding<br />
<strong>receiver</strong>. Then switch off that transmitter but not the <strong>receiver</strong>. Power the next pair,<br />
etc, so each <strong>receiver</strong> learns its transmitter. All transmitters can then be powered.
