EAT WELL, DO WELL! Rewards Program Description
Rewards Program Benefiting You, Benefiting the Community June 2010 – June 2011
In June Silver Diner will launch a new “EAT WELL, DO WELL” club which will reward club
members and give back to local schools to improve nutrition and fitness programs. The
program will launch in two phases.
During Phase One from June through August all funds raised will be split between the
schools that have enrolled in the EAT WELL, DO WELL program before June 15 th , 2010.
The funds donated will be used to provide fresh and local, healthier food options for
Farm to School Week in the fall. We estimate a total donation of at least $30,000 to help
our schools during this week.
Phase Two will begin in September, with an initial sign‐up process each school year for
parents and supporters of a school that has been linked to the program. In addition to
school’s own families, the existing 200,000 Silver Diner EAT WELL, DO WELL Club
members will be able to link their card directly to the school of their choice. Silver Diner
will donate a percentage of the EAT WELL, DO WELL card sales to the schools that
customers are linked to. The money will be reserved for the school to develop a
wellness program with the support of Action for Healthy Kids and the Virginia Food
Systems Council.
School Enrollment
Schools that enroll in the program by June 15 th , 2010 will receive a pro‐rata of the
$30,000 total donation in the fall for Farm to School week (max 80 schools). Enrolling in
the program also makes the school eligible for future funding for the 2010 – 2011 school
year.

Future funding to the schools from September 2010 forward will come directly from
usage of the EAT WELL, DO WELL cards that are linked to their school. Schools that
enroll are making a commitment to the following:
1. The principal and the PTA are on board with this program and the school will
give Silver Diner permission to list the school on their website so that parents
may link their cards to the school to receive donations from the EAT WELL, DO
WELL card.
2. The school will distribute cards in orientation packages and will post program
information on their website, in newsletters, orientation packages, PTA meetings
and other opportunities to get the message out and enroll parents and
community members in the program to support their school.
3. The school will commit to using the funds for nutrition and fitness programs
with the support of Action for Healthy Kids.
Fund Distribution
Phase 1
Schools enrolled in the program before June 15 th t will receive a check at the orientation
meeting held at your local Silver Diner, August 2 nd or August 9 th , 2010. The check will be
earmarked to the Nutrition Director for the pro‐rata (based on total schools enrolled)
allocation of the $30,000 donation amount for Farm to School Week.
Virginia Food Systems Council or partners with the Maryland or New Jersey Farm to
School week will provide guidelines and support for maximizing use of the additional
funds for Maryland schools in September and Virginia schools in November.
Phase 2
1 st Checks will be available January 31 st , 2011 for funds raised September 2010 –
December 2010.
2 nd Checks will be available July 31 st , 2011 for funds raised January 1 st 2011 – June 30 th
2011.
Action for Healthy Kids shall provide program assistance for maximizing use of the
additional funds for nutrition and fitness programs.
